| 09/02/2002 09:54:00 PM | After the Goal - 'The Look'by AgamemnonComment: This photo seems like it could be improved by reducing the green channel only in your editing software. The hair and skin of the players seem to be too green. Perhaps you did it on purpose, if so, it doesn't work for me personally. A differnt cropping might have worked better. The crowd on the left seems cluttered, which might not matter so much except that your focal point (#31) is looking that way, which makes me want to look that way to see what he sees. Without the people there, I'd assume the ball was maybe coming his way. Hope this helps. 4, just-married |
| 08/26/2002 09:10:00 PM | Beachballby owennnnComment: Okay, lots of questions here. 1) Is the blur intentional? The fact that it is such a dramatic blur says to me that it must be, but I don't see what it accomplishes. If it is supposed to capture the motion, I find it unsuccesssful due to the angle. 2) What are the speckles? Is this camera noise due to the blur? Perhaps it's sand -- to further the beach theme. If the latter, I think it's not obvious enough and therefore detracts from the photo. 3) Not a question, but I would like the blacks to be blacker. I gave this a one because to me it is a very poor photo. I wanted to say please take no offense, but that's an unrealistic expectation. I hope that my comments have lent some explanation to my score. 1, just-married |
| 08/26/2002 09:03:00 PM | ABC Gumby GeneralEComment: LOL. Definitely meets the challenge. I think this concept could have really been good. A can as the tool is a good choice and could act as a tool for some pretty cool reflective / light play. I thought the framing detracted from the photo. I would have preferred to see one can with the gum stuck on it and framed differently. Props for the original idea though. 5, just-married |
| 08/27/2002 02:13:00 PM | My Childhood Literatureby goodtimecharleeComment: I'm shocked that this is not in color. Why? I can visualize the strong comic book colors and they add so much. why? why? why? okay, so it's up to you. I'll lay off. LOL. nicely composed shot. Good choice for this challenge. 6, just-married |
| 08/27/2002 01:07:00 AM | when fear was funby BeeGeeComment: Nice shot. I wish it were less sky more roller coaster; but to get enough, you might have had to crop out part of Cyclone, which I'd have been reluctant to do. I would be interesting to see how the photo changes if the focus were on the rails as they start to dip instead of the name of the ride. Good title. 6-7, I'll see what I think as the week passes. just-married |
| 08/26/2002 08:52:00 PM | My New Neighborhoodby GuillermoComment: You're hearing it a lot huh? I decided ultimately that this was in the SPIRIT OF THE CHALLENGE despite the children's hands. (Perhaps they're adults, but if so, it's just not obvious enough) |
| 08/27/2002 01:47:00 PM | The doors really *aren't* welded shut...by cdcComment: I like the repetition. I would really like to see a diagonal shot of the hoods open, cropped in such a way that includes not much else -- could be very nice with brigh contrast and good lighting. Of course, it wouldn't be appropriate for this challenge, so I'm not suggesting a change to your submission, only an avenue of further investigation with the photo. The reds are great, and the General Lee definitely has a place in my childhood memories. 5, just-married |
| 08/26/2002 09:46:00 PM | Gumballsby malapropamComment: Good intentions. The cyan in the photo is a little overwhelming. A good crisp shot with adequate lighting might have been really nice. I didn't care for the reflection in the glass. Is that you? 5, just-married |
