Your pic has way too much blue. Your camera was set on floursent when I think it should be on "flash" without using flash. Use the lowest aperture you got and all this blue haze business will disappear.

Good composition and focus. The DOF (unsharp letters, sharp gumballs) creates a good feel for the depth. I like the uneven (tilted?) lines. The letters in one direction and the "gumballs horizon" in the other. The colouring looks strange and a bit bluish (neon lights?) but it's OK. Not every photo must have the super-saturated and vivid colours. It makes the photo look older which is not a bad thing for a "childhood" theme.

one of the few that need no explanations.. good.

The purple haze is off putting.

The color of this looks odd probably because it's being shot through the gumball machine's glass. I love this idea. It definately depicts childhood very well. I like how you got most f the word gumball in the photo too. Nice touch. There is a glare on the left side and in the top right. Hard to avoid when shooting through glass/plastic though. You did a nice job. Good luck in the challenge.

this was a great idea... but I don't like how it came out. I would have liked to have seen all of the word gumballs, cutting off the g in the beginning is fine but at least include the 2 L's and at least part of the S so I can make it out. Then the most important thing would be to get a polarizer lens. It'll increase color saturation and do away with all that glare.

So, why didn't I think of that? Good job with the subject. Composition with the words at an angle and soft light.

A polarizing filter would have been good here. Nice color. 7 Swash

good composition but I find it blurry on my screen

Great idea... I would have like to seen it a little crisper

This has a lot of potential. Do you happen to have a camera that can use a polarizer? It can help a lot with reflections. Also, the colors might need adjusted some. The whites look grey. I like the composition and idea if you can work out the technical issues.

Interesting photo :) The blue cast over the image looks a little strange... this may have been correctable with a white balance setting... good shot :) - jmsetzler

Love the idea but the blue tinge isn't appealing to me, though I appreciate it may be deliberate.
Reminds me of the bit in Toy Story (1) where the aliens are in the plastic thingy and the kid puts some money in and they all chant and the one who gets picked is saying "I have been chosen, the claw is my master, Oooooooooooh".

This would be better if it wasnt so blue and the reflections wernt there. 5.

Good intentions. The cyan in the photo is a little overwhelming. A good crisp shot with adequate lighting might have been really nice. I didn't care for the reflection in the glass. Is that you? 5, just-married

Great shot. I like the colors.

Nice colorful shot. All those round forms, what's that dark thing i see in the back ?
Is that a reflection or is something behind the gumball machine?
08/26/2002 06:02:00 PM
I think the picture would have worked better without the bluish cast.
08/26/2002 05:13:00 PM
A hard shot, but it would have improved the picture had this been crisper.
08/26/2002 03:28:00 PM
Did you try adjusting the white balance so that it doesn't have a bluish cast to it. I think the entire image would be brighter and more effective if the colors were a little more true. karmat

White balance could be adjusted better. 3 -lennier

I like it, but I'd like it better without the blue cast.

Gumballs usually come in such wonderful colors, the blue hue tones that down too much.

looks OVERLY BLUE to me.... perhaps you should calibrate your monitor....
