self-pic inside bmw316iby dockieComment: I don't care for the subject too much but I have to give you credit, you did a very nice job capturing several textures well enough to "feel." Great job. |

Weathered Toughnessby TommyMoe21Comment: Beautifully done. Every detail is focused on and highlights texture. Elephants are hard to shoot because they rarely stand still. This is a wonderfully crisp capture but possibly a bit over sharpened. |

Adobe Exposedby SammieComment: LOL! For a minute I thought this was a dig at Photoshop ... then I see real Adobe. What a hoot. Nice job with the textures. |

Landed Gentryby ImagineerComment: This does a very nice job with texture. The colors on the tree are terrific. If I were to pick nits, I am bothered by the green sky. Because of basic editing, you couldn't selectively edit it, but you might have been able to use Levels or Selective Colors to prevent the color cast. One more minor nit, it feels a bit over sharp. Easy does it with sharpening. |

Flower-(pattern).jpgby David.CComment: David, both these are pretty well exposed. Depending on what you're after in the photo, one or the other will work better for you. In this one, you have a nice histogram with pretty much all the data at the dark end of the spectrum, but have blown the whites slightly (sunlight just to the right of the center of the full flower, and sunlight on the leaves to the right. The red center of the full flower might be just slightly under exposed but it looks nice and does no harm.
This has given you lovely textures for the petals and probably pretty accurate colors. The foliage in the background is dark enough that it receeds from my consciousness. This focuses attention on the flowers, just where you want it. |

Flower-(spot).jpgby David.CComment: In this version you have spot metered on the center of the full flower and the exposure there is essentially perfect. Anyone not believe me, select the center and look at the histogram ... perfect!
But perfection here is at the expense of highlights blown to a greater extent. Do we care? Depends on what you are photographing with your mind's eye and how you'll crop the final photo.
Since the photo is brighter overall, you have brought up the brightness of the background. It is more visible, you can see more detail, look at the lovely detail in the veins of the leaf to the right and below the full flower. Is this good? Or is it a distraction from the main event? Depends on what you're trying to do. |

Cactusby konigin_verdamntComment: So small! I can't really see the details. Try using all the pixels available to you ... 640 on a side. |

Thunderchildby dw_photoComment: Lots of leaf vein shots this challenge. This is a unique angle. Very well executed. I "feel" the texture. Possibly best of show. |
