In this version you have spot metered on the center of the full flower and the exposure there is essentially perfect. Anyone not believe me, select the center and look at the histogram ... perfect!

But perfection here is at the expense of highlights blown to a greater extent. Do we care? Depends on what you are photographing with your mind's eye and how you'll crop the final photo.

Since the photo is brighter overall, you have brought up the brightness of the background. It is more visible, you can see more detail, look at the lovely detail in the veins of the leaf to the right and below the full flower. Is this good? Or is it a distraction from the main event? Depends on what you're trying to do.

Your shaggy bush is a beautiful hibiscus! How gorgeous! Both pix look good. It all depends upon what effect you are after. This one is lighter as you can see :)
