Despairby ArtysteComment: I confess, I didn't like this image at first. I didn't like the title because it felt to me like it led me away from the meaning of the photo. There is nothing in brilliant focus. And yet it is a powerful image. I kept coming back to it. And I kept bumping it in my voting. It's now among my top picks. Congratulations on a superb image. |

R E D by gaurawaComment: This may be the best in show in my opinion. You have used DOF superbly to highlight a subject, and the soft part of the photo as it receeds gives a powerful sense of motion which is completely an illusion. I love that it tricked me into seeing something that wasn't there and then redeemed the trick when I realized my mistake. Hope it ribbons! |

Flat Coloursby tonyvComment: I love the flow of the pencil points. Colors are dramatic. High contrast works well. The off-black background is perfect allowing for some shadowing. Among my top picks. Hope this does well in the voting. |

The eyes have itby NitinComment: This is absolutely terrific. The DOF is perfect IMHO. The focus on the pupil and lashes is dramatic. Well done. This is my top pick for the challenge. |

Just roll the Diceby robsComment: This is a splendid image. The colors are fantastic. The ultrasharp focus on the one die is terrific. A really excellent demonstration of DOF to highlight a subject. And a wonderful photo because of the movement implied by the out of focus part of the photo. My top rated photo for this challenge. Hope it ribbons. |

Black & Whiteby medoComment: This is a very bold image ... not so much bold as in foolhardy, but bold as in dramatic. I like it. The black space dis wonderfully divided from the white space by the jagged line of pencils. I like that a lot. I almost requested a DQ for adding text, but then realized the text was on a pencil. Glad I caught myself. |

Aaaah, I Love My Wife!by climbin2thetopComment: Nice DOF. Well executed technically. Comp's okay although a little less on the sides might have helped. Subject doesn't hold my interest or make me look twice. |
