A single motherby reaverbladeComment: Wow. What an exceptionally unphotogenic subject. One typically does not associate slimy water-dwellers with the concept of motherhood. |

Big Red & Baby Redby SAScambosComment: Excellent choice of subject for a study in minimalism. However, you'll have to control the reflections for a shot like this to work. Also, the placement of the large vase so far to the left creates a somewhat unbalanced image, as well as tension with the too-close edge of the frame. The black border seems unnecessarily stark--your photo is fairly high key, so the black stands out in sharp contrast and tends to draw the eye away from your subjects. (6) |

Life is motionby BrennanOBComment: Totally didn't recognize you with the beard. I gave you a 7 for out-of-the-box weirdness. |

Rush of Springby NeilComment: Seriously, how does a photo like this score only a 5.94? The DPC voters are just awful sometimes...
P.S. How WAS this processed, and how long was the exposure? Message edited by author 2010-06-08 13:41:59. |

Droplets and Lightby tamatamaComment: I really like the near-infinite miniature worlds that can be explored with shallow DOF macro shots, and there's a lot of good stuff going on here. That being said, I find it odd that the plane in focus is so close to the bottom center of the image. This composition feels bottom-heavy, and the lack of any sharp focus in the roughly 3/4 of the image to the top and right makes the whole thing feel rather static. |
