Walnut Grove Schoolhouseby vontomComment: Originally posted by nephrotic: There seemed to be a lack of black. I put it into photoshop and moved the sliders around - it makes a huge difference. I would be happy to email my changes and see what you feel. Definately has commercial potential |
I think he's right - if the contrast were better, this would work much better. The value range is skewed towards the greys and whites, which results in a washed-out looking image. Especially where soft focus shots are concerned, having good value is important. |

High Wind over the Rockiesby snackwellsComment: Great shot, but the wind isn't too clear... if there were a snowy cap being blown off one of the mountains, I think it would meet the challenge much better. |

Worth Losing the Hat?by trnqltyComment: The hat is a subtley of this picture, and I like that it's right at the end of that arm of clouds. That the guy's head just clears the treeline is also a nice compositional element.
I like this one a lot :)

~Ribbons in the Wind~by tmilobComment: I think this might actually have worked better with a high shutter speed. The curling of the ribbons would probably have made it clear that they were being blown. Here there is nothing well enough in focus to make a compelling focal point for the picture. Still... it's way better than the zillions of flag photos in this challenge... :) |

Airport wind sockby NodeComment: I like the contrast in this photo. The white on almost black is very striking. However, the focal point winds up being the cones in the front. The windsock, which is the one thing in the photo that communicates the idea of wind, becomes nothing more than an incidental element in the picture. A close-up of just the windsock, with the little cones around it, might have worked better. |
