interesting. I think many ppl will vote this down b/c of flare and CA and other technical pet peeves. Some might vote it up b/c of the wind-blown snow.
My first reaction was: ouch, the sun is killing this photo. the windblown snow doesn't do a thing to me, see it all the time and much more than this. But after looking for a while it kinda appeals to me. Warts 'n all. I wouldn't print it out and hang it on my wall however. score? hmmm, problem. well I have a scale of 1-10 and I most often vote 4-5 but I'll give you a 7, no a 8 because I'm in a xmas mood and you will probably appreciate it. Don't PM me, if you want further feedback, post in the forums tomorrow. Merry christmas. cheers & good luck

The rays are cool, but the flare is distracting from the real subject--wind. Especially where the flare is very purple by the snow.

helluva dramatic thing
12/20/2004 10:15:16 AM
IMHO I think the sun shouldn't be in this photo. It might have scored higher to show only the mountains and snow blow...
12/20/2004 03:14:50 AM
cool shot, but whoa sun! do u have a lens hood, and also maybe pan a bit the right, i dont think u need that much, if any sun in your frame. It could also make the exposure on the wind blown snow more accurate without such harsh ligth.

nice winter capture, and you can feel the cold breeze too
12/17/2004 10:00:45 AM
too much flare and too much moire...
12/17/2004 09:53:59 AM
Ah, if only you did not get this much sun in the frame... I guess cropping was impossible as you've already got all the rays in. This could have been a winner this week. As is, only a 5.

what amazing photo.congratulation sir for this shot

Man - this could've been a really great shot. To me, the sun and its rays not only add nothing, they take almost everything away from snow dust blowing off the ridges. Plus it seems quite out of focus. :-(

I like the subject and the moody feeling. I find the flairs distracting however and the over-bright sun in the upper left corder. It would be interesting to see how it would look with the sun cropped out from the top.
12/16/2004 06:19:09 PM
I like it
12/16/2004 02:04:34 PM
I think i would have liked it better without the sun flares, esp the big lens flare
12/16/2004 01:07:36 PM
I like this photo. even with the glare.
12/16/2004 12:29:44 PM
Nice composition, but I think the heavy sun streaks ruins the image rather than enhancing them.
12/16/2004 11:34:49 AM
The flare adds and detracts in equal measure. Good composition, I hope you do well
12/16/2004 02:19:21 AM
your composition and choice provide a l ot of potential, but unfortunately the amount of lens flare really hurts the image here, as well as the high leve of noise in the sky.
12/15/2004 06:54:16 PM
Way too much lens flare for my taste. Picture would have been very good without it.
12/15/2004 04:05:44 PM
Cool shot, but baaaad lens flare.
12/15/2004 03:02:31 PM
Good capture but sun in objective is bit too much.
12/15/2004 01:23:19 PM
nice rays. It looks really low rez though despite you shooting directly into the light. The snowdrift seems too subtle to have impact. Could you have enlarged it?
12/15/2004 09:18:16 AM
I'd have concentrated on the lower left quarter on the image and left the sun out of the picture. That would have gotten you rid of most of the noise as well. But the idea of wind is really stong in here.
12/15/2004 08:23:06 AM
Far too much lens flare. The slopes look good though.
12/15/2004 07:55:19 AM
Now that is one hell of a lens flare! Unfortunately it dominates the photo. I think you could have had a fantastic shot if it were possible to turn away from the sun a bit and sheild it from hitting the lens. (judging from where you were, it probably wasn't possible).
12/15/2004 03:15:48 AM
I really like the composition. Fits the challenge theme excellently.

Technical aspects a little weak, unfortunately since there is a significant amount of flare and noise. The overall detail seems to be a little soft. Still, if I squint my eyes and view from afar, I am breathtaken by this vantage. Well done on artistic merits.
12/15/2004 03:05:45 AM
The sun glare totally takes away from the beauty of the mountain

Composition: 6, Technical: 4, Appeal: 5, Challenge: 5, Overall Calculated Average Score: 5
