Lovely image. The off focus and heavy grain are completely untroubling, lending credence to the fairy tale mood. Fine, noble hero, soon to lift off to adventure. Serene unfolding of blues, sea, mountains, sky. Capable middle ground, that strip of land and the buildings. The foreground gull and the background mountains and sky settle the classic composition. Appreciating the ever so subtle play of pink. Something magical about this.

The optimal path, black and white. The owl, in its placid finery, is a revelation. And what a wonderful balance found in the owl and attending tree. Not really stark, but beautiful in a stark way. Yeah, stunning.

The rich colors, amber and ultramarine, support the sense of fantasy. At first this looked like a flight of hummingbirds, a happy mix-up. Graphically superb.

Quietly joyous. Bison, inseparable from land, walking along on this mild winter day. Strongly weighted composition. The bushes/trees nicely dapple the scene. The snow looks properly white, making a case for high key but for the palette reaching deeply into brown. So, surprisingly warm. Handsome, iconic.

Wonderfully engaging and clever. The composition is built up, bottom to top, in measured fashion, an ascension. The more somber tones nicely serve to bring out the red berries, the leaves and the rich brown. Also the titmouse's throat and eye patch. Powerfully intimate.
