Ribsby vawendyComment: A mesmerizing tsunami of wood and metal. I like the hint of action here, being coyly invited inside but then denied by the jutting roof. The composition is busy but rewarding. A dignified demise. Nice. |

The Black Basketballby Bear_MusicComment: I like how the clouds in the background seem to be a cloud of dust raised by a cataclysm that undid this structure, but it's the confounding presence of the black basketball that juices up this image. It implies, to me, that the world is full of disjunctions, so don't settle back into ennui or smugness, keep an open mind and enjoy the zigzags. I also like the matter-of-fact dreaminess here. So, bravo. |

Forgottenby illini75Comment: This image sneaks up on you, hidden in the tall grass. I love how the building emerges in a flurried blend of yellow-green and faded red. That's the joy I find and am grateful for it. |

window to the pastby tangueraComment: Seems more of a structure than a building, but still it's a lovely image. The beautiful detailed, glowing, rusting metal stands in strong counterpoint to the grim atmosphere. The scene through the opening on the left is charming. |

closedby oldbimmercoupeComment: The line of structures is held together, in a way, by the parade of textures beautifully delineated by the black and white format. The perspective draws the viewer right into the scene. The contrast is attractive and fine-grained. There's a fussy harmony to all the windows and doors. Makes a strong statement. |

stay outby leontpComment: This abandoned building has devolved into a Mondrian stitched together by girders, columns and foliage, which affords a totally unexpected delight. At first glance I wished for more sky, but now feel it makes a nice upper frame as it is, echoing the blues in the structure. A real pleasure to gaze at. |

The Old Coal Plantby TommyMoe21Comment: Adroitly handled, this massive structure is tucked behind the wedge of greenery and beside a large river to diminish its tendency to loom rather than participate in the whole. Now we can admire its implacability only partially diminished by its unfortunate (well, not to the environment) decommission. The grainy sky seems to be one last sooty fling. The background to the left of the coal plant adds a delicate frill to the almost pointillist scene. Has a subtle beauty. |

Village Interruptedby LindaLeeComment: There's a poignant, just-missed quality to this image, which elicits a deep sigh. Seems to have run out of luck as much as financing. The heavy, lowering sky, suits the scene perfectly, the washed out coloration completing this enervating dream of never attaining your destination. The vignette nicely serves the appearance of a post card. Excellent. |

in passingby tangueraComment: Congratulations on high honor for this thought-provoking (sounds bland, but it's not meant to be taken that way at all) image. |
