Poinsettiaby kasabaComment: Graphically excellent. The elements meld together with panache (using which word always gives me a frisson, etc.). The only part I'm unsure about are the three crooked brown lines on the right. I guess they're poinsettia branches, but it's a bit Medusa for me. Unless that's your coy intention. All in all, though, an accomplished achievement. |

whoosh .....by tamatamaComment: The ghostly train is perfect, as is the tilt. Strong imbalanced rhythm and quirky composition. Great title. Impressively successful. |

the questionby mariucaComment: The fine overlay lifts this beyond a photo of artwork. Deft, imaginative touch that in itself is so enjoyable. |

some morningsby RKTComment: The milky yellow sky perfectly brings out the filigree of trees. Handsomely alien. |

A Cinderella storyby LevTComment: What a great "capture" -- strange way to express it. Utterly endearing. The dog and his or her beloved, I suppose, shoe are a counterpoint to the overall rhythm of the image, a flute among the cellos. What's up? Everyday commute? Tracking a perp? Nice focus and exposure, perfect in black and white. Fine image. |

Rain in Dubaiby mqnaufalComment: Fine evocation of the city. The red, spiky building and its attendant bokeh add whimsy and rhythm, a la Joan Miro. The water drops subtly enhance the fantasy. There have been several images of Dubai on DPC -- this one's my favorite. |

Lemon Dropby grahamgatorComment: A still life that has verve. It's also, besides being a wonderful traditional still life, amusing and has a trajectory. The yellow, blue, green and terra cotta are symphonic. The lizard on the branch is wonderful, boosting the charm factor even further. My favorite part of the image is the bottle, so delicately colored, and with a translucent solidity that's almost visceral. Transcends the genre. |

St Martin's in the Fogby MargaretNetComment: Agatha Christie territory. The fog seems to loosen up time, a blanket of memory and possibility. I like how much space is devoted to it. The gold onion dome in the lower right keeps drawing the eye, a curious feint of attention, deepening the sense of disorientation. |

little boy blue by tangueraComment: Sunny and fun. Great execution of a clever idea. Blue carries the day. They must tickle. |

Bay of Bengalby bside123Comment: Terrific balance in its entirety, the people as they come and go, and the boats and ships serenely moored. No rushing along, scurrying out of the frame. Matter-of-fact beauty. So much to teach us.
One of two personal favorites in the challenge. |
