The vivid colours are great but there is something that does not work at all for me. I think that as this could very definately be considered "art" rather than a photograph I think it is going to be either an "I love it" or I hate it. I find the texture of the background disturbing. If it had been solid black I think that would help (for me). HOWEVER - The picture has intrigued me enough for me to want to look at more of your pictures - and so in that case it has worked! Apologies for the lower mark on this one but I am glad I want to look at more of your work

Totally beautiful dog. Interesting composition but a sheet on the floor or a plain carpet would have "pulled" the dog to the fore. I have just cropped to the left of the dogs nose and it is a beautiful picture then.

Nice shades - and I like the black contrasting to the right. I would have cropped out just below the nostrils though. I find the feed remnants distracting.

Beautiful dog from an unusual angle - such a shame there is no catchlight in the eye - put a white dot on in an editor and see how it lifts it (I know you cant do that for the competition entry). The one thing that appears to let it down is the cut-out (It appears to be cut-out, apologies if I am wrong). Fur - hair - feathers - trees are almost impossible to get to look convincing. Great dog though.

I do like this. I had to photograph something like this many years ago.for an auctioneer. One point. As the background is black I would have just put the smallest (and I do mean smallest) amount of light to the left, rear. That would just give the very slightest amount of shape to parts which merge into the background and give just the smallest amount of detail into the figure.

Entered quite a long comment on this one but for some reason it did not save. Anyway it was the only one I gave 10 to. Everything about this has worked. Even the fact that some people would grumble about the burned out sun. In this case I believe it has totally worked. It must surely win. For some reason I am also unable to add to favourites with this one. Could you email me so I can keep an eye on your work and see older work.
Thanks

beautiful lighting - Was it natural. Some would say the back and wing is too dark but I really think this works. Cropping out the left and top space leaving his head in the top left corner, I think, really brings the lighting effect to the fore even more.

I like this better with a much tighter crop on the woman. I just find the man distracting. Using the rule of thirds though has paid off though as if the man has to be there he is almost drawing the eye to the female. Well exposed. If you had gone (may not have been possible I know) to have gone to the left slightly it may have been possible to have hidden him behind her and she would have filled the frame - and that would have still retained her obvious concentration - at the same time hiding some of the fence which is a little intrusive.

Love this shote - beautiful colours - Try cropping much tighter around the dog and friend and I think it gives it much more impact and gets rid of the traffic light control growing out of his head

The exposure keeps the detail perfectly but I keep finding the wall artifact distracting. I keep trying to make out exactly what it is. It's a shame because the background colour enhances everything about the colour of the bust. I dont know if it would have been possible to change the angle of view - possibly not. Otherwise I love it.
