nice shot but the main feature is the orange scarf stealing all the glory from the red shoes

thanks mcaldo

i know i could have gone with a more conventional shot like in my out takes but i thought id push the boat out,

a few things, picked the worst day to go as it was so windy they weren't taking rubbish only construction waste.

the shot i had in mind was teh big waste compactor pilling the garbage towards me with birdds flying around picking at the bits, alas it was parked up and no bin trucks,

there was the wagon shot in my out takes but agian was shooting into a low setting sun

the idea with the background which is probable not apparent is the transition from teh tip, to the urban are to the country side(national park) in the background like three layers of land use.

the white balance issue? is that from the slight hdr i did in topaz to bring it out, i had a dark grimey b/w of the same shot that i was going to title grim up north, again wouldnt have worked for the us market ;)#

outtakes

others from my day trip to the tip, i actually got a tour rd form the manager :) helps being a plant operator when small talking with these guys hehe, i relaly liked the waste compactor shots but i drive big machines all day but thought it might be lost on non heavy machinery geeks

i gave you a 4. i appreciated the different lighting techniques you had used but it just didnt make me want to look at it. to me its two buckets with lights in, the motion blur doesnt do anything for me. maybe i should have voted you up a little for technical ability but i vote on how the picture feels to me and it was just meh! and not appealing, would i have it on my wall framed? no i wouldnt, nothing personal just my taste, you did a lot better than me though i got a 5.1 for mine, voters really didnt like mine.

great shot but the blur/disturbance mid left draws my eye all the time, i wan to look at the girl with her hands on her head but im drawn back to looking at the blur trying to work out what it is?

love the lack of detail here, it means i can make m own story up in my head, reminds me of the long cold scary walks back to my parents farm cross country as a young man slighlty drunk and stumbly cutting through the woods in the dark imagination running wild with me. spooky,

rough guess as hahn23 i think i recognise the mountian, love the cloud and the richness of the sky no light pollution in montana hehe, love the feel of day yet clear night sky, most so far havent conveyed that and this is my first 7 42% through so currently highest score, i'll revist when done.(edit for spelling)

ooh ver brothers grim feel i like the foreboding feel it has and the off sepia tone gives it a nice oldy world feel while the sharpness almost makes it 3d. can see what appear to be some brush marks though, left hand tree at bottom.
