I like the patterned background, red drink, and very action oriented shot. I would like to see some more lighting, especially the bottom row of glasses, and a bit more symmetrical of a crop. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 05/08/2011 02:59:56 AM | Bottom's Upby ArjComment: It looks like a robots eye. I like the flatness and color, but I think the background and crop feel a bit boring/default. this might look good with a bit of a wooden texture behind it. |
| 05/08/2011 02:58:39 AM | Just A "Friendly" Gameby GeneralEComment: It took me a while to find the shotglasses in this scene, and when I did, I felt like they were kind of arbitrarily used.
the focus and lighting are both treating the two cards on the table as being the most important thing. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 05/08/2011 02:57:17 AM | The golden hour by IreneMComment: that glass on the left is lovely, so creamy. The reflections in the right glass aren't as interesting to me, the blue seems a bit out of place against the warm composition.
any chance you'd be willing to share your lighting on this one? | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 05/08/2011 02:52:28 AM | Tulip Glassby thrumyiisComment: this feels really dark... not just in exposure. between the black background and the blue color cast, it seems a bit uninviting.
I find it interesting to include both both organic and industrial textures, but I'm not sure this is pushed enough. |

on the technical side of this, the cropping needs some rotation still, it's just a smidge leaning still. I think the only other thing that I'd like to see done just a bit differently is that the shotglass seems *very* close to the edge of the table, which makes the background feel a bit overwhelming/close. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 05/08/2011 02:46:24 AM | Wait where's my whiskeyby mrchhasComment: I like the high-key look, there's still plenty of contrast, although I do wish that the rim of the glass wasn't as blown out.
I'm not sure what the object in the shot glass is... It looks like ice, but it has a strangely unidentifiable shape to it, almost like the pipes in super mario bros.
overall it's not a bad shot, but lacks the huge visual punch/greater meaning that would take this to the next level. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 05/05/2011 11:40:33 PM | Buck Shotglassby lx120Comment: I like this lighting, something I'll have to try, even if it is a bit in the center of it. I think the focal point is the edge of the horizontal buckshot, the metal end, and if so, it feels a bit soft in the post processing. i'm not a big fan of the pun, but I think this could have been pushed further, it's almost as if you weren't sure people were in it, so you showed a shotglass. I think with the buckshot in the frame, some broken glass would have been more appropriate. |

here's what I think is working/not working.
working- i noticed the hole right away, focus is sharp.
not working as well- it seems a bit dark overall. the table seems a bit crooked/angled, and you can see the seam on the left side.
on a different level, I think this would be stronger without the gun. or if it was pushed a bit farther back in the DOF. As it sits now, the gun is struggling to be the center of attention, I think due to the dynamic angle, and the fact that it holds more contrast than the glasses do. |
| 05/05/2011 11:31:59 PM | Cacophonyby banmornComment: an interesting shot, I've been wanting to try something similar, just to say i've done it :D
the colors are nice, and the reflections create an interesting effect, but my biggest gripe here would be that the music notes seem completely unrelated to shotglasses/drinking. could be interesting and relevant with things like cherries, lemon/lime wedges, or even colorful bottles of alcohol/mixers. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
