 When I read the challenge description "shotglasses" I SO wanted to enter but the inspirational part of my brain seemed to have gone on holiday.
Then, on the day before roll-over, sitting at my desk at work, I finally got an idea. Soon as I got in from work I started experimenting on what position, light, liquid, etc. would give the best results.
I wanted the liquid to look dynamic but the surface the glasses are on to be dry (this meant a LOT of cleaning up after every photo I took (about 70). I didn't have really high hopes for a good score with this one because there are some very good glass photographers here.
Anyway, next morning before leaving for work I checked my score and nearly fell over in shock. I had seven votes and a score of (wait for this) 8.1! I thought "don't get too excited, it'll probably be down to 5.4 the next time you look", but it's hovered between 7.6 and 7.5 the whole week. WHAT a fab week. As I write, it's sliding into the 7.4 range. Still fab.
Thanks so much for the many comments and the GREAT score. I'm truly amazed and delighted it stayed so high.
Some mentioned they'd like to know how I did the lighting. I had one flash with an orange filter to the back and slightly to the side and the other flash with a blue filter at the other side. I filled the standing glass with tap water and threw water colored with orange food coloring into it. That way the orange liquid didn't fill out the whole glass and allowed the lighting to shine through the lower part of the glass.

Congratulations :) Lovely, as always. The addition of the empty glass on its side is a detail that I really appreciate. Makes the composition much more interesting.

Oh well...moved this up a notch to a 10. I know that lighting is a pain in the rump but can't imagine how many times you had to shoot this and then clean up and re-shoot....hopefully it didn't take to many!

that glass on the left is lovely, so creamy. The reflections in the right glass aren't as interesting to me, the blue seems a bit out of place against the warm composition.

any chance you'd be willing to share your lighting on this one?
