good-byeby posthumousComment: My mark (oh yes, it's important!) was a 9 only because the silly ipad did not register the bump to 10.
It's part of my favorite shots.
Again, my mind went to Tarkovsky, and my reading was way more gentle than I read in other comments. It has to do with paving the road, with family ties, with the clearing in the forest and a slew of other symbolic elements. Life itself |

Lord of the fliesby nygoldComment: Excellent for the book and a powerful image in its own right. I like how the boys become one with the wild nature. The ribs are like the frowzled background
8 (for now)
I am quite haunted by the look of these boys.

The Sun Also Risesby MarfunComment: Nice landscape, delicate but falls short for this challenge and it seems just chosen to suit the title of the novel but not its content that has so much more to say.
There is a surfeit of sunsets and sunrises in photography and we all try our hands to capture them but they shall be shown sparingly for more effect.

"North and South," by John Jakesby ShaneBlakeComment: Did not read the novel and I believe that this reenactment is as accurate as it could be but the picture does not inspire me much in terms of a good photograph. Could be a good as reference photo.

Charlotte's Webby DanaSComment: This shot is definitely less suitable for the radiance of the novel. I do not like to see here the rear end of this creature that seems in search of food instead of weaving a marvel for our amazement.
5 for the effort |

The Prophetby jagarComment: I think that there are here too many elements - some quite beautiful such as the crouched silhouette, but a little confusing. There is something that does not attract me here, as I was not attracted to read the book (yet).
