Waiting for take offby beginers luckComment: Greetings from the Critique Club!
Hi and welcome to DPC! I see this is your first challenge and you did very well!
This is a lovely shot and most of the comments I would make have already been made during the challenge. The slightly out of focus wing on the upper right is very distracting to me. But the rest of the shot is amazing considering the circumstances under which it was taken. A slightly tighter crop might also help with the over all feel of the shot and maybe straighten it up just a touch.
Otherwise, excellent capture!
Good Luck In Future Challenges!

Mental Jogby DufusComment: Greetings from the Critique Club!
First I must comment that I love your user name! ;)
Now on to the shot. This is a well done DOF, everything is great focus and the fence line and path/road leading you into the shot and through it. The jogger almost seems like an afterthought. Not sure if he was placed there or you just happened to catch someone jogging. He doesn't really add nor detract from the shot.
The lighting seems a bit bright (yes my monitor is calibrated) and the grass seems a bit to yellowish, almost as if the yellow is trying very hard to overpower the green, creating a bit of a struggle for balance.
The sky in the upper left is more of a distraction to me and if there was someway to crop it out but using my magic envelope, if you do, then the rest of the shot ends up off balance. Maybe if you could darken the sky area a bit, it seems a bit blown out and really takes away srom the rest of the shot to me.
Overall this is a great shot, I gave it a 6 during the challenge and if I had time to go back through the shots would have probably raised to a 7. I was looking at your profile and portfolio and love some of your work, especially the black and white, it wonderful.
Good Luck In Future Challenges!

Inseparableby DefyTimeComment: Greetings from the Critique Club!
What a wonderful shot! I love the rings and could stare at them for quite some time trying to figure out just how they fit on your finger! ;)
Most of the comments you received during the challenge cover the problems with the shot, the hot spots and lighting seem to be the biggest set back on this shot. I love the texture of the surface you used for your backdrop, it works very well with the rings. But the light is a bit harsh and really sets off some hot spots. Maybe using a reflector or even covering the light with some paper to help deflect it or just a different angle. If you ever reshoot this I would love to see it.

This is a wonderful shot and all the positive things were said during the challenge, the black and white, the angle, the lighting. It tells a story in the picture and I like that. Makes me wonder where the balconies are :)
The only thing I see that throws me off a bit is the angle of the roof and the way it comes across the shot. It seems crooked and throws the shot off a bit for me. I like looking up at the doors but the roof makes me a bit disoriented with the angle, maybe if the shot was tilted just a bit to the left to make the roof straight.
Otherwise, excellent job!

Will at play.jpgby myfelixComment: My first comment is: I AM SO JEALOUS!!!! He's adorable! I love wild cats!
Next, the critique. I love the colors and the shadows on Will's face but the paw on the right side is very distracting. I'm guessing it's another cub and hence the odd look about it. A slightly tighter crop on the right to remove the one paw but leave in the whiskers. Otherwise, close to perfection, if it was in a challenge I would give you an 8 or 9! |

Team playersby neehaiComment: Not sure exactly what you are going for here. The feeling I get is the US and Britain taking a chance on the roll of the dice and .......?????????? If you are talking about the team effort to go to war, I'm sorry, that is not a sport by any stretch of the imagination. A very nice shot, not sure why the spring is there, nor the dice, technically, very well done, but overall appeal, not really there. And since I can't really figure out the team/sport aspect (which is what I thought the challenge was supposed to be about) I'm sitting at a 3 on this one unless I can figure this out. |
