Guardian in the Sun by chuckComment: I didn't get to this one before the challenge ended so I'll do it now. I love this shot, I gave this shot an 8 originally but if I had gotten back to it would have bumped it up, not sure if all the way to 10 but at least to a 9 but you didn't need me ;)
What got to me about the shot was simply the dark shadow in front of his leg. It's almost as if the body came out of nowhere, the rest of the shot is wonderful. I know it's a nit picky thing and I'm sure you just want to bask in your glory like they are basking in their sunlight and fame, so Congrats and job well done. Now, go give them some treats! :) |

Meet Diana...by scudsComment: A lot of the reasons are listed below. I gave this an 8, the distractions are the carpet and the lack of detail in the eyes. I love the lighting on the hair but it's not quite enough for most to push it over the top. But I honestly think the main thing is the carpet, it really detracts from the dog herself.

Donovanby ShannonComment: I didn't get to this one before the challenge ended. I gave you a 7 on this but I think I can explain why you got mostly 5's.
On my monitor, the black and white are very distinct and that's a good thing sometime but in this case, it might have hurt you. The line between the two around the top is so distinct it almost has a cut and paste look to it. Black animals are so difficult to shoot, I know, 2 black cats in my house as well. While the eyes and nose are in great focus something happened to the paw and lower face on the right. It's all blurred out and looks like someone took an eraser and smudged it out to the right. The lighting on his nose and eyes are well done but the rest seems rather dull and lacks that wow factor. It's a really lovely shot and you should be proud to display it, just doesn't have that stand out from the crowd feel. Hope he got a lot of treats for posing for you ;) |

Murphieby jmcotterComment: Aw, Murphy is adorable! Love ths shot, very nice. The highlight on his head is nice but casts a bit blue, was that meant to be? Slightly crooked, leaves me tilting my head. In the last minute I raise you from a 7 to an 8! |

My Kitty Amongst His Stuffed Friends!by ebertdjComment: Very cute but all the friends make it a bit distracting, though actually the colors work for you because of the black kitty. Nice capture on the details of the cat, black is so hard to capture. Some of the stuffed animals look a bit blown out but otherwise a very nice shot. Was a 7, going to an 8 |

Whisker-Close Portraitby kkd01Comment: Dang! Congrats on getting this one! I know how hard it is to capture these little guys, especially to make them sit still long enough.
I like the highlight in the eye, very nice, the flash is a bit overpowering but not blown out and the background works well, looks very natural. Had this at a 7 but in the last minutes of the challenge am raising you to a 9!!! WOOT! :) |

The Greater Daneby Gil PComment: Oooooooooooo, the light, the light! Let me get my sunglasses! Sorry, I couldn't help myself. You are probably tired of hearing that. But the light, while brilliant like your pet I'm sure is a bit overpowering and really takes away from the animal itself. No detail in those areas. But I still like the overall compsition and feel of the shot so a 7 for you! ;) |

A pet for peace and quiet.by docpjvComment: Very nice. Fish are so hard to shoot. I like the colors, the clarity but the other fish on the left and in the lower right end up being a distraction. This would have been a judgment call if you had decided to clone them out, I don't feel they are major elements in the shot and would have really helped keep the attention on the center fish. A 7 |
