John Steinbeck: Grapes of Wrathby crabappl3Comment: i never read the book so I'm not sure how this picture can be titled as such. But challenge aside, it's a nice sepia shot, the horizon is nice & straight. |

The Secret Gardenby waterliliesComment: nice shot. the crooked lamp in the BG is bothering me, dunno why. I was also trying to find something that was in crisp focus, but couldn't. I do like the prospective we are getting from the shot and the composition of it all. |

Devil's Trumpetby unicumComment: there's a lot to consider here, maybe too much since the focus, I imagine, should be on the trumpeteer statue. Also, the buildings across the way seem to be more in focus than the primary subject. Not sure if you were going for that effect. Perhaps another angle might of worked better or if it was not in silhouette rather than detail. Just a suggestion. |

"Where the Lilies Bloom"by bruskiComment: nice macro shot. However your title is mispelled. Some may mark you down for it, I won't. I did read a thread about folks gripping about mispelled titles. The composition is excellent. |

Faces from the fire: The biography of Sir Archibald McIndoe - Leonard Mosleyby michael_pComment: I'm not sure how hard it is to shoot fire, as I have never tried myself, but this is the second fire shot that I have seen that is slightly out of focus. So my ignorance in the difficulty of shooting a focused shot of fire not withstanding, I like the silhouette effect & the matching orange border, it brings out the colours in the fire to the fore front. I think that if the objects in silhouette were sharper & more focused that would have been an even better shot. |

Rose In Bloomby AmiYuyComment: very nice shot, however the rose looks a little past it's bloom. I like the angle as I can see the many layers of the petals. Perhaps if the outer petals were ripped off to give it a younger look or if an entirely different one was used this shot might have matched, just incrementally more, the title. Meets the challenge well. |

"A Modest Proposal" by Jonathan Swiftby MiahComment: hmmm... interesting, very interesting. Does this imply that the propsal is ablout surrogacy? I like it. I'm a little thrown by the man's reaction but not so much as to change the original score. Nice bw |

Turkey, between east and westby frankhComment: this is such a wonderful shot! I love the angle, the contrasting colours, everything. Where was this taken? I wan to say it is the Golen Gate Bridge but that's red. |
