Alone no more...by bruskiComment: Intense image. Well representing both loneliness and solitude. Black & white choice was perfect. Sharp image, good focus and lighting. Disturbing subject but well executed. Great use of space. As an aside, the tattoos look interesting. 8 |

The lonely Icelanderby helgiComment: I think this is a good image depicting solitude or solitary, but the title throws me off a bit. Says he's lonely but his expression makes me think of someone taking in rays.. could just be my interpretation though. The lighting is great, the colors stand out nicely. Composition is good, nice empty street to contrast with the figure standing alone. Good clean image. 7 |

Grado, Italyby paolobnrComment: Excellent use of space. The lack of color really sharpens the angles and contrasts. Even though the couple are not necessarily a single subject, taking them together being one works. The extreme feel of distance and the lack of any other focal points really amplifies the solitary feeling. Very well done. 8 |

Friends No Moreby vonautschComment: Ok, this image made me giggle at first because I couldn't tell if they were fish or chickens.. I do like the way the light is playing on these though. I don't think it necessarily evokes loneliness or solitude, I do think it shows separation which I think is a sub-category, and so fits the challenge for me. I really like how the one alone is much more lit (a little blown out perhaps) and the group is darker. The use of space is good too and I think the black & white was a good choice. Would be interested in seeing the color version of this after this is over if there is one though. Nice image! 8 |

Alone in the darkby rhipsterComment: Excellent interpretation of the challenge. The subject's posture very much evokes the feeling of loneliness. The black & white aspect highlight the mood perfectly. Great focus, nice lighting. I like how the eyes are in shadow, gives an almost, faceless quality to the image. 10 |

Thinking Deep Thoughtsby alanfreedComment: Good image! I love the colors, the detail is nice, great focus. Fits the challenge well and in a lighter tone than most. Subject is very restful and fun to look at. Well done. 7 |

Let Me Sleepby loneinbangaloreComment: I'm guessing that there is something on the rocks tryingt o sleep, but I'm finding it hard to discern exactly what it is. The image is a gorgeous black and white, but I think the nature of that means its hard to see.. oh wait.. ok I see it now. My comment still stands though, I had a VERY hard time separating the subject sleeping from the background. I think its a great image in general, good light, good focus and detail. 7 |

I'm getting sleeeeeepyby wickedpeteComment: Great image. The frog is very crisp, colors are good as is the lighting. While I'm not getting a lonely vibe, I do see the solitary aspect of the subject. Beautiful photo. 7 |

from the fridgeby 4h20Comment: I think the title is throwing me off a bit. I like the green cast, its different, I also like the angles, but I'm not sure what is going on in the picture (its rather busy) and that's distracting for me. The soft focus is a little unappealing. I'm giving it a 5 for now, may have to come back and re-evaluate. |

Innocent Lonelinessby lambrosiComment: A beautiful photo, I like the use of light and the black&white choice. The little cherub is adorable, but while shown alone.. I just don't get a solitude feeling, nor loneliness. I think there is an inherent feeling of well-being and care to be honest. Maybe its the closeup aspect of the child, not sure. I still think its a lovely image though. 7 |
