This is beautiful. The colors are outstanding. Of course, I knew what it was but it doesn't take anything away in my mind if you already know what a macro is of. (If that made any sense). I gave this an 8 in voting.

Nice lines! I don't really care for the selective desat. I didn't vote in this challenge but probably would have gone 5 or 6. While the lines intially lead you up to your daughter, the red after that pulls you to the side which seems to have some kind of weird tilt to it.

Wow Deb! This is fantastic. It reminds me of an 18th century set for a gothic romance novel. I bet if you sent this in to one of the romance publishers, they would use this for a cover.

Nice job again. I love your colors! I gave this a 6 in voting. The composition is very nice. I think if all 3 purple flowers had been in focus with the yellow flowers blurred it might have done better.

I thought this was fantastic. I gave it a 7 in voting. The colors are sweet and even though it has a soft look you can see all the detail in the main petal. Wonderful job. The voters suck!

Again, I didn't vote in this challenge. And again, I would have gone with a 7 or 8. Beautiful sky. I like the birds hanging out. I wouldn't have noticed the airplane if you didn't mention it. I always wanted to take a picture of these here. There's a spot (but it's on a main highway) where they line up in pairs, one after another for miles. I'm afraid to stop there though.

I've been slacking with comments. I didn't vote in this challenge but I would have gone 7 or 8 with this. I thinks it's beautiful. I love the contrasting subjects. Soft vs. sharp. Lovely job!

Hey Tim,
You asked so I'll tell... what I was going for with the processing was a cartoon look, since FarSide is a cartoon. I went to the zoo specifically to shoot this and the tree for the Lone Tree challenge. 2 birds and all that. I had two ideas for this challenge (the other being what I posted for an outtake, which was my first idea, this was the fall back). Larson used a lot of animals, and a lot of the times they were getting the best of the humans. That's what I was going for here. I wanted it to appear that the frog swallowed the child in retaliation for messing with it's children (the eggs behind it). I didn't want to copy an exact cartoon (of which I have a whole book of his). I'm finding I never do well with original ideas here though.

edit to add: the frog actually had a big hole in the back for the kids to climb into, I just filled it in with Photoshop.
