So I will wonder how many people will guess this as mine. Went to the zoo on a rainy day to get shots for rain. The tigers were hanging out under an overhang right by the glass. Took this shot at 125mm with my Sigma lens and did NO cropping. This gal was sitting about 2 feet from the glass. Again these tigers are amazing posers. i will edit some others and post them afterwards.

The softness above his eye to the left is from smudges on the glass window I was shooting through. The windows were a mess. I think this works for the challenge in that although its obvious it is a tiger, the lines and patterns have an abstract feel and I really dont know how much more macro you can really get on a tiger. I really like this shot over several other shots I tried for this challenge. Hope it does well.

Post process - levels, saturation, cloned out some white specks in his fur, burned the shadows and black areas of his fur, contrast, USM, gaussian blur, NI, USM again, increased canvas size for border, stroked twice, resize for web.

Edit - Now I really hope this shot does well. Not only for my team but also because of the head to head challenge with idnic that me and my big mouth managed to get ourselves into. If I lose (which yanko seems to think is inevitable) I must use a prop that cindi decides on to be in my next entry. Should be interesting.

Critique Club Review:

Very nice picture!

Focus and depth of field are good. As noted there is a smudge, but evidently cleaning the inside of the glass with the tiger present wasn't an option. Still you did a very good job in making it appear in the least noticeable area. Nice lens for this kind of detail at that range.

Color, saturation, hue, brightness, contrast, and lighting are all very well done.

You may have lost a point or two, to those who didn't see this as a true macro, or abstract. However, I like the play of the stripes and colors. I feel that it is a powerful photo, and one I would not tire of hanging on my wall.

This is beautiful. The colors are outstanding. Of course, I knew what it was but it doesn't take anything away in my mind if you already know what a macro is of. (If that made any sense). I gave this an 8 in voting.

Get any closer and you're gonna be lunch. :-) Nice work through glass, and seems to have appealed to the voters as well. I'll confess I didn't vote in this one, but it would have scored well from me. First I'm a sucker for animals, second, I love the detail.

Ha! I was wrong. Funny that both of you shot animals for this challenge. So now what do you have in store for Cindi? Something sinister I hope! :P

Lovely lighting and good detail here. Not so obviously abstract however.

May not be "close enough" for some, but I think it's a wonderful image. Great detail and focus here. Colors are really jumping out! You'll have to frame this one when it's all over. ;^) Good luck in the challenge.
