his/hersby idealoddsComment: I like the diagonalisation of this. Negative space concentrates the eyes on the subjects.
Colours are nice and rich. I gave this 6 'cause it fitted the subject of the challenge, is nicely composed, nicely lighted and sharp. I didn't score it higher cause I didn't find the subject very engaging, to be honest.
One thing that struck me was about the blue bottle. The few drops of water in the blue bottle are a little out of place, I think. I don't see the counterpart drops in the red bottle, and I find this image so wonderfully symmetric that I feel disappointed it's not there :) I think the image would have been better either if they weren't there at all or if they were also on the red bottle. Not sure if it'd've made me score higher though. I'd have to see it otherwise. |

I like the way the water bottle is just incidental. |

Thirsty?by hojop25Comment: Haven't seen one of these in a while.
It's a shame the image that goes through the drops on the bottle aren't water related.
Good idea though. I like the DOF. |

Horn of Plentyby mariucaComment: I like this. But I think I'd've processed it a little more than you have. Probably just a boost in contrast although that may have over-contrasted the right hand side of the image--going through the plastic drops the contrast somewhat I think.
There's a lot to this image. Water. not water. Candidness. I quite like this. And I'm not just saying it because of our discussion. I'm saying it because all of these things are used as water bottles. Just because they are coke bottles, snapples, pepsi's... they can all contain water, and people like me use them as water bottles after we have emptied their initial contents. This shot has a transience that is not immediately evident but that tickles my photographic sensibilities.
Something else for me is the lent reference in the background. Many of my friends (being from a Catholic country) give up fizzy drinks during lent and as a result drink more water.
Whether this was all planned or not I don't know. But I got it from the image so it doesn't matter. This got a 6 from me. |

High Noon on Rue du Perrierby jagarComment: I'm gonna update this from a 9 to a 10 and favourite it.
I'm not quite sure what it is I like about it... but I like that something a lot. Fantastic work! |

molto gustoby h2Comment: I think I prefer the more-square layout in shots, at least of late.
Your entry did better than how I think this would have cause of the way the coffee rose up on the sides of the cup. Not 'clean' and 'dpc-friendly' maybe? I love the softness, dof and cleanness of your entry.
That said... I want a cup of coffee now! |
