Greetings from the Critique Club

First Impressions:
To be honest? This took my breath away! I loved it from the very first time I saw it.

Technical (Comp, lighting, color, focus):
The composition, the lighting, the color, the focus - including the bokeh - it's all marvelous. And your worries over the "distractions" were for naught as what you consider distractions only add to the image.

Challenge:
You certainly met the challenge and did so beautifully. AND I'm a title girl and this title is PERFECT!

Artistic/Emotion:
Artisticly? Stunning! Melethia nailed it in her comment below "the blues make this rich and vibrant, and the bokeh is lovely!"
Emotionally? This is a very soothing picture and I can so totally see why you are considering hanging it. I would if it were mine.

Summary:
I'm sorry to say that I have no suggestions for making this better. I may not have been the right one to give a critique of this image but as they are randomly assigned to us I was thrilled to be able to give you my thoughts on this image. I think posthumous and katenlow said it best with just one word....gorgeous.

Just cruising around, reading some profiles and looking at images. Got on your profile page via Alices cause she mentioned that you took her current profile photos. I read that one of your goals was to receive 2500 comments....I scrolled down and this image jumped off the page at me! so I figured I'd help you with the comment goal.
I love this; it's beautiful! Read your notes - stupid seagull lol ;-) I probably wouldn't have noticed it - but then again I was looking at the photo - didn't even know what challenge it was till I read the notes.

Good luck in school - you do beautiful work!

First Impressions:
What a beautiful photograph! That's totally it - my first impression!

Technical (Comp, lighting, color, focus):
clear sharp focus, perfect time of day for the lighting in this photo, outstanding colors, the only thing I see wrong in the composition is really just nit-picky stuff which could be quickly taken care of in the slightest of crops on the left hand (looking at image) side....as I said in an earlier comment to remove that gravel(?) on the bottom left which would also take care of the wire that someone else caught and mentioned in another comment.

Challenge:
Don't think you can get much more country than what you've captured.

Artistic/Emotion:
Artisticly this is simply stunning.
Emotionally it makes me wanna walk down the slope and get to work!

Summary:
It's in the top 10! That pretty much sums it all up! ;-)
This is indeed a wonderful entry. Thank you for sharing it with us. :-)

Just cruising through some images and spotted this. I like this shot. I see lots of folks mentioned that it's oof, but it works on this shot! I like the black and white, I love the tree and the angles on the house are excellent. A marvelous find for a photographer and (for me anyway) it's a great capture!

Greetings from the Critique Club

First Impressions:
My first impression was, "Oh What Fun!" I really enjoyed this picture.

Technical (Comp, lighting, color, focus):
Someone mentioned in the comments that they didn't like the cropping of the wheel; but I really don't think it takes away from the image. Having just the tops of the tents and booths only added to the overall composure. In fact, for me, it shows how ferris wheels and carnivals/fairs are actually larger than life! I mean, think of the excitment that is generated when the fair comes to town. It's something that can't be contained!

Challenge:
Bingo! You hit the nail on the head.

Artistic/Emotion:
A very good artistic shot! I see you placed in abstract and digital art....what a good home for this image.
I just don't see how any one good look at this and not get a happy feel from it. It made me smile.

Summary:
I don't understand why this shot didn't finish any better than it did. It totally did it for me. I like the spots of color against the white and the blues are wonderful. I really don't have any suggestions for making this better because I think it's a GREAT image just as it is.

Looking forward to seeing more of your work. :-)

Greetings from the Critique Club

First Impressions:
These shots always draw a WOW from me I first see them. Yours, as a negative image is even more so. I'm a "does the title work" type gal so that was the next thing and I loved it....the title and the modern day gps just clicked with me. What I got out of the complete picture was, "Our societies today are so fast pace, we really need to slow down."
From reading your notes I don't think you were trying to drive home any "lessons" with this shot but it did for me.

Technical (Comp, lighting, color, focus):
First of all, I don't understand the composition cause you are on the wrong side of your car! - just kidding ;-) The composition is really good. Someone mentioned that the rearview blocked their view but I don't see it as a problem. For me it looks exactly as it should. The somewhat tilted dash agains the curvy road just works! The negative color works well in this photo.

Challenge:
You were right on target with this.

Artistic/Emotion:
Very well done artistically. And emotionally, well as explained above in "First Impressions" it did speak to me on an emotional level. I feel that for the most part we "drive" ourselves too hard in our day to day lives and your shot just underscored that for me.

Summary:
I believe you did a good job with this. You were looking for a mid-5 in your score so I'd say that you accomplished your goal. And you had a good overall effect.
