Well, I've never tried to do a negative image before and I have no idea what is expected by the voters. Something in the mid 5's would be nice.

I've always wanted to try and something like this by hesitant but never had the time and reason. This seemed the right challenge for me to try this shot and even though I like the way it turned out it wasn't exactly what I had planned. I was hoping for something a little more abstract.

Tripod set up in the back with a cable release. My daughter was in the passenger seat and triggered the release when ever I told her too. As a result she's claiming the photo as her own, and I guess, she's right so here's hoping for a good finish for Team Abra :-)

Greetings from the Critique Club

First Impressions:
These shots always draw a WOW from me I first see them. Yours, as a negative image is even more so. I'm a "does the title work" type gal so that was the next thing and I loved it....the title and the modern day gps just clicked with me. What I got out of the complete picture was, "Our societies today are so fast pace, we really need to slow down."
From reading your notes I don't think you were trying to drive home any "lessons" with this shot but it did for me.

Technical (Comp, lighting, color, focus):
First of all, I don't understand the composition cause you are on the wrong side of your car! - just kidding ;-) The composition is really good. Someone mentioned that the rearview blocked their view but I don't see it as a problem. For me it looks exactly as it should. The somewhat tilted dash agains the curvy road just works! The negative color works well in this photo.

Challenge:
You were right on target with this.

Artistic/Emotion:
Very well done artistically. And emotionally, well as explained above in "First Impressions" it did speak to me on an emotional level. I feel that for the most part we "drive" ourselves too hard in our day to day lives and your shot just underscored that for me.

Summary:
I believe you did a good job with this. You were looking for a mid-5 in your score so I'd say that you accomplished your goal. And you had a good overall effect.

I like the link in the image from the GPS display and the winding road ahead. The rear-view mirror is blocking my view a bit. Do you have any shots directly over the driver's shoulder, looking out over the steering wheel?

This aggravates me!, Its horrible how we dont have enough AMERICAN pride to take our own pictures, its a horrible picture with a horrible theme.

Nice cool looking image - Like the sat nav and the road mirroring each other.

It's amazing how the dark, and usually less visible portion of positive images, is so clear and visible in the negative version. And even in negative, I love motion blur. Well done, even if you're driving on the wrong side of the car...
