Eastern Free State? Lovely image with golden mielie (corn) fields partly harvested adding to the overall impact, lines, fences and roads for the eye to follow. The couple walking adds to the overall composition. I'd just have cropped off the top 5mm dark area.

I liked the shot from an interaction perspective. I new it was a bluebird but not which one.
I thought the image was overexposed and the noise in the tail feathers in shade led me to believe this.
good catchlight, a bug in mouth, at the nest; all good social components of a wildlife shot. I felt the light was very harsh and the shadows had to be recovered causing the appearance of editing "noise".

Great study Pat. Love the partial spread wing feathers ahead of the body and ending just before the birds head. A nice OOF backround but the fencelines do take away a lot of the attention the bird deserves. Next time Mask and Gaussian Blur as you are allowed to do so in Adv. Editing.
