Young Swallowby scooter97Comment: Beautiful POV with crisp yet extremely shallow focus on the eye, obligatory catchlight, BG to die for and a lovely composition if a tiny bit tight on the left. Well done on a technically superb bird image. |

Singing The National Anthemby debbiedsdComment: Nice feather details and decent smooth BG to 3D the bird. Nice moment caught in full cry. Not fond of the processing, it almost looks too smooth overall. The eye appears sharp and so does the ridge line of wing feathers but the white neck feathers are OOF with very little detail, not physically possible so sone sharpening has been applied. |

The Woodpecker and the Pineby hahn23Comment: Technically challenging image to obtain. Not withstanding the photographic ability, large aperture, fast shutter speed, perfectly stationary long lens/body but also to get TO the sighting, setup and shoot without the bird flying off is incredibly difficult to achieve. The flying debris is also magnificent as is the head caught stationary mid strike even though it's pecking at 50 ppm :) POV and composition spot on. Only niggle I can give is a missing eye catchlight, but for me this is a minor imperfection. Bird behaviour photography at it's best. 10. |

Chelseaby StagoleeComment: Nice action and great splash and drops in the sunlight. Pity about the cropped wing tip at top and you are unfortunately on the dark side of the bird, photographing it in it's own shadow. |

Jurrasic Cardinalby pelicanComment: Great technique and excellent focus on the eye (beyond the beak which is hard to do) and cute inquisitive typical bird like pose. Your BG is to die for, green and smooth. Your exposure is spot on, if perhaps lacking a little extra contrast which you could add in PP. Whilst this is clearly a Nature shot (bird attracted to a feeding station) and not a true Wildlife (in the Wild) shot you have displayed promise and skill in most of the departments needed in good thoughtful bird photography. It would be good at the next attempt to also take note of the tail feathers and get them in the shot seeing as the bird is relatively stationary and your chances to capture are numerous in the space of a few minutes :P Despite the easy location and the cropped tail I'm giving this a Free Study 7. Well Done. |

Feathered and friendby MelethiaComment: Lovely interaction shot. The child is inquisitive but non-committal :) The Pelican is wary but non-plussed. Great seaside candid.

Juvenile Male Rubythroat Hummingbirdby RefocusedComment: Lovely image of the hummer, with correct s/s to get the head still but a blur on the wings. Obligatory catchlight and a BG to die for. A bit dull on the body and a flash with snoot or reflector might have improved that. |
