I like the DOF used and the floral stem to lead my eye to the beetle. Nice detail but it and colour could be enhanced with a slight UE by a 1/3rd or 2/3rds of a stop?

I agree with Ann. Vastly better attempt at a still. one other suggestion beyond Ann's, try manual focus on the letters on "Schweppes" as they appear OOF (Out of focus) vs the cutting blade and "Rosella". I'd move the blade more to the photographers right as it aids the visibility on the lettering. The wooden wall is a great touch from a tecture POV but it doesn't help the lettering stand out.

For a shot like this, though, I'd probably shoot in raw. I shoot in RAW and have done no additional sharpening in camera settings, seldom in PP. I am ecstatic with the results from the D7000 and the Sigma 100-300 f/4 when the focus is on.

thanks Ursula, I can't imagine what the 36MP must be like to manage...

I actually have an edit with the fluorescent reduced but posted this one to see if that would come up. It did :)

Almost looks like you selective desat the BG to a sepia. The artwork in the FG then pops blasts one full frontal in a Warhol kind of way. If you cropped out the left hand side you'd have another one shot Diptych entry :)

Your focus is spot on despite the shallow f stop. The 20mm doesn't show as massive distortion on the FX Full Frame D800 as it might on a DX. What would a lower aimed higher POV do?

I'll learn to look closer at them next time! Thanks for sharing. Are the white splotches lichen or moss? Or bird poop? :)

Quirky :) Is the tree at the back door where the patron sneak a pee? It looks like it's had one too many too :)
Well spotted. Complimentary subjects. I might have cut out the left side brickwork, but kept the lower brickwork.
