Great Grey - Baitedby EnlightenedComment: I would hazard a guess this is a Ryan Magnumphotography shot but could easily be Enlightened. The intensity of this Owl species eyes is always a drawcard and it was indeed the first thing I noticed, despite the action of the wings and the landing, and then, bam, the mouse opened up a new dimension to the shot. Superb. What on earth a mouse is doing in a dead branch is beyond me, but I understand the skill needed to capture this and get it in focus and keep the bird un-cropped. VWD and will no doubt be Top 10 and possibly Top 3. This is my only 10 of the challenge despite stiff competition but I am biased toward BiF. |

Phantom of the Northby cdn1Comment: Wonderful and engaging eyes caught. Boring into my soul!
I'd say this was the same bird as another mouse catching entry. Perhaps not as powerful a shot but still technically very good in trying conditions. Wildlife needs to be rewarded especially when we go to these lengths to capture for others to enjoy. 7.
My guess the team of Ryan and Susan ( Magnumphotography and snaffles) bu could also be Enlightened |

The Callby theluissalesComment: Pretty shot with a smooth and appealing green BG. Not easy to shoot black birds and the tone and detail is very good. Focus is bang on and a slight catch light rounds it off nicely. |

Hurricane Point Huesby jfritz27Comment: Lovely scape and I understand the naturalness of the sea spray but a slight haze reduction filter in PP would have given it some spunk/impact. |
