Fighting flightby Alex_PetriniComment: Really nice complimentary color balance with the blue and orange. Silhouettes are always cool. Fun shot. |

Tomato No. 42 by gyabanComment: Well done. And an astute observation about the produce available in our major markets these days. Finding a Weston subject in a standardized world. Not easy work these days. |

Midnight Dancerby orvaratliComment: Wonderful colors and lines into the depths of the photo. Shimmering, glowing, with some stars for good measure. Outstanding photo. |

The Curious Cowby bassboneComment: Great texture and focal depth to make this pop. Tones of the subject are slightly different from everything else, also helping to give the subject an extra separation. Great photo. |

Alien worldby Alex_PetriniComment: Wonderful tonal range and contrast throughout the entire image. Exposed perfectly to get the texture in the foreground. There's a bit of an optical illusion at about 5:30 that initially looked like a drop on the lens. It's obviously a motion-blurred bit, but it would bug me if I had this hanging on my wall. And it's at that caliber. Fantastic photo. |

Driftwoodby bcrantsComment: This looks like some fancy SEP work here, or at least something I'm unable to replicate. Excellent tones and light values throughout. Makes the image. Nice. |

White water, black rockby dmsmithComment: Very nice movement. I'm not voting, but I'll critique this anyway because I like photos like this where I actually might have a decent suggestion. Emphasis on might.
As powerful and impressive as the motion of the wave is, I'll contradict myself now and say the photo to me is too busy. And I think that is because it's a tight crop and the border does not suit the crop. I might have pulled back off this crop a little to get a greater sense of perspective of the scene, or had the water rushing in from out of frame more (compositional preferences only), but my main issue is that I feel the thick, white lines overpower the white of the wave, and also contradict the lines in the wave, which are running near vertical. I think if you were to ditch those white lines (or at a minimum reduce them to a pixel wide each and soften the white (maybe pulling the white from the wave with the eyedrop tool)) this would be a much stronger and less confusing image.
I typically don't give a damn about borders, but this seems like a really quick way to improve this photo.
Keep in mind I'm not a good photographer, but as a viewer, that's what I see. |

Textureby RodorComment: Nice. I really like this composition. Of course there's the pleasing curvature of the line from the top right, but the angle of the shot plus the brightness of the snow (because of said angle) toward the top convey a much greater sense of depth than what's visible. As though it were a vast, arctic expanse.
And accurately named. It's a great photo to just stare at for a while. Great stuff. |

Ripplesby BrianRComment: Lovely shot. The contrast between the puffy clouds and puffy trees really works in B&W. Nice lines in the ripples. I'd love to see this in color as well (sure you've gone that route). Nice one. |
