Old Barn Wood

wood like that is perfect for this challenge. i also like that you found a piece of wood with an eye in it. i probably would've placed the eye fully into the photo (while still following the ROT as you did). what really hurts your shot is that it's out of focus, and to be able to view the texture, focus is really important. -- gr8photos (2)

a mushroom, right? very cool idea. not totally sure about the combination backlighting at the top and full-on lighting at the bottom, but i guess it does show off texture differently in both places. the title confuses a bit, i guess i'm not getting it. -- gr8photos (6)

Acoustic Texture

ok, i admit it. i'm totally baffled by this one. the title also doesn't help. i must be just really dumb today. anyway. i kind of like the lines running through the photo, but i'm not sure about the colors - i'm a sucker for strong colors i guess. and there are two differnt types of textures here for sure, but they are not the thing that jumps out at me. it's more the lines and the colors. i can't wait to find out on sunday what i'm trying to analyze here! ;) -- gr8photos (5)

this shot sure has a lot of texture to it. it does look like it's vignetting (sp?) around the edges, kind of like you had a filter or lens attachment on your camera that doesn't work well with it (i know, i have one of those ... ) the whole photo could do with being just a tad sharper or more focused, even in the center. -- gr8photos (4)

i like the colors (green being my fav, and blue a close 2nd) and the idea is good, too. the left side of the shot seems a little OOF, did you have your camera set to a shallow DOF (if you can control the setting that is)? and maybe not quite level so that the left side was further away? that is a little distracting to me, also, the left side seems a little darker, maybe add some more even lighting if that's possible. -- gr8photos (4)

this would be great for texture if it was more in focus. i suspect you may have gotten closer than your camera can focus. i do that a lot with mine, it beeps as if it has focused, but actually, it can't... and i find out when i upload the photos. the lighting and composition are good otherwise -- gr8photos (4)

it's textured all right. it's in focus and otherwise technically properly executed. i like that you've put the stripes diagonal. there's just that little something missing for me to interrupt the monotony and hold the eye a little longer. just not sure what that would be, some kind of other small object somewhere. -- gr8photos (5)
