nice diagonal and roughly textured. Good in b & w.

Good texture but no focal point

Texture, yes, but not at all interesting.... 4 sjgleah

Good idea to put the lines on the diagonal.

Yup, you're right, it cement! Although the patterns could be considered interesting, personally I find this shot about as exciting as paint drying. It's a well taken shot. Great focus, nice contrast with the shadows. 6 Swash

Excellent - witty title too. Great lines, focus, contrast, color - all great. Perhaps not the most appealing subject, but you've done a great job of photographing it. Well done!

it's textured all right. it's in focus and otherwise technically properly executed. i like that you've put the stripes diagonal. there's just that little something missing for me to interrupt the monotony and hold the eye a little longer. just not sure what that would be, some kind of other small object somewhere. -- gr8photos (5)

I am one of the folks here that probably doesn't go for the wallpaper, full frame photo of texture as much as a having a subject like a concrete filling a portion of the frame with depth of feild providing a background. I realize this is personal preference. That being said..I really like the diagonals here and think there is a tremendous potential in the subject...5..hokie

Perfect use of B&W, well lit, and an interesting composition. Gets a 9.

funny title, but the image itself is not very interesting though.

wow. surface of the moon? =p

Hehe, nice title. Nice framing job, the diagnol lines work well in your 3:2 ratio'd image.

Your shot has possibilities, but you didn't exploit them. I would have set the lighter cement colors as white and kept the shadows black. Then it would have had more power. Also, a picture like this should be brutally sharp.

It does have texture, and you have done well by having the "grain" move diagonally instead of vertically or horizontally, I think. It just seems a little monotonous. Maybe if you had added something that would contrast with both texture and color it would have more "grab appeal." karmat

Yes, this is my idea of a study in texture! You can feel it without even touching it!
07/23/2002 06:48:00 PM
Good job of bringing out the texture in the cement. I like how you put it on the diagonal. For me, though, this picture needs a bit more interest. I think the cement would make very interesting negative space for something colored or with some sort of opposite texture.

An actual texture. Nice close-up/macro.

this reminds me a photo another person took for a prevous challenge, the only thing missing is the snail. good example of texture, not very origanal though

Cool.

Great texture, not much interest.

I think someone on the forum said last week that we'd see a lot of flat pictures. well, this certainly isn't one of them! I love the depth of it, looks very 3D. 7 beegee

This is definitely texture. My only problem with this image is that it lacks creativity. It's flat... no dimension... no color... no distinct subject... = 3 - jmsetzler

sorry but i find this a bit boring and monotonous, sort of like a basic texturizer filter in photoshop.
07/22/2002 01:57:00 PM
I hope that it is quick drying cement
07/22/2002 12:51:00 PM
nice pun in the title :)

I had this exact ame idea. I just never got the pcture taken. great texture
07/22/2002 03:17:00 AM
good texture, and I like the diagonal lines running across the picture. it might be nice to have something besides pure texture, though.
