bad pun, good picture. Like the 'backlit' upper half more than the lower pieces

Beautiful texture and lighting. The split in the upper left is somewhat bothersome. But I love it.

wonderful textures and images of light retlected and transmitted. good clarity and composition

Nice texture. I like how the light is shining on the front of the subject, as well as shining through. I think it either needs to be cropped more at the top, or let more of the top show, not sure which. karmat

a mushroom, right? very cool idea. not totally sure about the combination backlighting at the top and full-on lighting at the bottom, but i guess it does show off texture differently in both places. the title confuses a bit, i guess i'm not getting it. -- gr8photos (6)

LOL....... You're such a clever one! The photo is wonderful. Your choice of lighting really accentuates the delicate layers in there. Right on.

Better focus would yield higher score. =7

the lighting on this is especially wonderful. The illumination from behind show the delicacy, and yet so does the lighting from the front. With the sharp focus I can see the paper-thin components. Angling the symmetrical lines gives interest and a line for my eye to follow which draws me in, and keeps me in the picture.

Are you insinuating a body mass of branched filamentous hyphae?

Like the gradation from dark to light. Picture has nice rhythms. Don't understand the title though.

An old joke, but a nice photo. Well done.

If you load this into Photoshop and adjust the levels manually making the image brighter throughout the whole thing takes on a translucent quality. the bit at the back where the light comes through looks fantastic and could maybe have been cropped out on its own see what I mean at //uk.photos.yahoo.com/bc/martinwoods_uk/lst?.dir=/Yahoo!+Photo+Album

From your title, I still can't make out what I'm looking at. No points lost, just an observation. Very interesting lighting, it almost seems like it could be underwater. Coral maybe? I have no clue. :)
