rust is great for this challenge. interesting title, too. nice composition with the bottom bar running through the photo. what are those two white spots? my initial reaction was that they were from a flash, but i guess there wasn't any glass to reflect a flash so that theory didn't pan out. oh well. -- gr8photos (5)

i think this is a beautiful item you bought at the yard sale, but it's blurry. i'm wondering whether you tried to go for a soft focus here (the color of the background works well for that), but i would really have preferred the item to be in focus. sorry. there's also something protruding into the picture at the top left, maybe a chair leg? -- gr8photos (3)

good idea for texture. the framing has a couple of distracting items in it (the blades of grass sticking up behind the mushroom, and the grass at the bottom (i would've tried to crop a little higher to eliminate that, or maybe a portrait format just on one of the mushrooms? the top of the mushroom is also a little blown out with the light. does your camera allow spotmetering? or other manual controls that would allow you to bracket a shot and then pick the best one? -- gr8photos (4)

sunflower is a good subject for this challenge. i think you could have done more to bring out the texture by zooming in closer (the leaves at the bottom are distracting), maybe even show only part of the flower if your camera allows you to get that close. also play with the brightness and contrast, if you increase both a bit a lot more of the texture and detail in the middle of the flower (not sure what that's called - darn english as a 2nd language thing) becomes visible. -- gr8photos (4)

interesting idea for texture. two things that i would've considered changing to make it a tad more interesting (imo): play around with the colors to increase the contrast a little bit. right now, the colors look a little flat to me. i would also maybe have taken out a couple of the pieces so that it's not just a jigsaw puzzle, but a puzzle in progress ... just a thought. i'm curious, why is it called big ben? -- gr8photos (4)

great idea, something that's not just nature, but man made. i initially didn't like your shallow DOF, but i'm starting to like it. there is one place where it bugs me, and that's the shoe lace. if that was in focus (maybe if you pulled it up higher so the end would've been where the focus is, not easy, i know), this would have been great. also, the bottom right corner is a little too dark and your top right background a tad blown out. still a good idea. -- gr8photos (5)
