Audible Abstractionby gray4093Comment: well, this is one of those photos that i'm having a hard time voting on. it's a TOTALLY cool abstract. the only thing i would suggest, is can you increase the yellow in the background on the right a bit (especially outside of DPC that should be an easy fix). now onto my problem. i have absolutely no idea what i'm looking at. may just be me being dumb. that has happened before. but as for an illusion ... it's missed the challenge for me and my interpretation of it. sorry. gr8photos. |

Incantationby PericoComment: i had to look up your title in the dictionary, just to make sure i wasn't missing it (who said we'd only learn about photography here? ;) anyway, you may not agree with my definition of the challenge, but i don't see the illusion in yours. the fire seems real enough. i don't think you are meeting the challenge. sorry. gr8photos. from dictionary.com: Ritual recitation of verbal charms or spells to produce a magic effect. A formula used in ritual recitation; a verbal charm or spell. A conventionalized utterance repeated without thought or aptness; a formula: the pious incantations of the administration. |

Beam Us Upby tealtreasuresComment: challenge -- met. i can see what you intended for the illusion with the sun rays. technical -- probably couldn't be avoided, but i don't like the discoloration from the sun rays. also overall somwhat blurry. composition -- subjects are pretty far away from the camera and too centered for my liking. the rocks make a fine 'other planet' scene. overall -- sorry, i got to be honest, i'm not impressed with the quality of the photo (3) gr8photos |

Rush Hourby howzaComment: hm. so i've stared at your photo for a while now. there may be something that's reflecting in the car window, but i really can't recognize what. so, while that may be (or may be not) your illusion, it leaves me more with the impression of a distracting reflection than an illusion. sorry -- gr8photos. |

rubber duckyby tomzinhoComment: wow, i would've never guessed this was underwater. sorry i didn't get around to voting on this one ... well done. just wish it was a little bit lighter on my monitor. love the warm color :) |

Always Openby mjcecilComment: challenge -- met technical -- good. i do wonder though why you chose b&w. but maybe it would be clear if i saw the color version ;) composition -- i'm not sure exactly how i would change this, but i feel that i'm looking exactly onto the wall, and it kind of cuts the photo in half. i think it's because you probably wanted to get in both the window display and the street. overall -- 5 from gr8photos |

We Have Becomeby Ricky CleaveComment: initial reaction -- we have become too proud? wrathful? not sure i'm getting exactly which sin you are depicting. challenge -- met technical -- good use of silhouette. if the light source was just a little lower, it wouldn't give you the blowout directly abov the head. not sure what he is holding in the hand. if that's crucial to the photo, you'd maybe have your model kneeling down and the photograph from the floor up to get the same angle, but the hand in front of the flag and not melting into the background. composition -- straight on works here. some distracting stuff to the sides of the flag at the top, maybe a 640x427 could've eliminated that. overall -- 5 from gr8photos |

Lust - is it a sin for a Bull Elk?by jimsappComment: first reaction -- hm. i really didn't think sin applied to animals... but that's just me. challenge -- met technical -- the bull and the cow's face are too dark. maybe try and increase the gamma in your photo editing software (if your software allows that). i just increased it to 1.62 and i could see some more details. composition -- love how the elk cow is looking into the camera :) i wonder what a shallower DOF would've done to blur the background, but - if you are like me in these situations - you just fire on auto settings to make sure you get the shots :) overall -- 5 from gr8photos |

selfish desire beyond reasonby djenanbacvicComment: initial reaction -- how do i know it's selfish and beyond reason from looking at the photo? but then, it's not a title competition ... challenge -- met technical -- i'm sure it was intentional, but the photo is too blue and dark for my liking. some of the highlights (next to the face, the 50) are too strong. composition -- like how the hands are in the corner and most of the photo is jumbled up money. like that you added coins and didn't just use notes. overall -- 5 from gr8photos |
