challenge met. my first reaction was "WOW, what colors!". i love the panorama crop here adn the stuff in the background that's totally unrecognizable adds to this photo. it reminds me of light reflecting on whater. that may very well not be it though. my top 3 this week. :)

challenge met. definitely one of my favorites so far in this challenge (edit: this ended up in my top 3). i love the whole idea of the grass and sunset which, even though your title indicates prarie, always reminds me of the beach. it's nice that the sky is mainly blue, and just has those fiery colors at the bottom, just above the horizon. the square format works well. now that frames are permitted, i think a slight black frame would have worked well, too. but who knows. good job in any case. :)

awesome photo, but this looks very much like it was set up inside, and therefore does not meet my definition of the challenge (which, i know, is different from yours since you consider this to meet the challenge, but i have to vote according to my definition). sorry. anyway, that out of the way, i did want to give you feedback on the photo. i think it's totally cool how your have arranged the antlers and how old and weathered they look. they really could tell stories, i'm sure. very nicely lit, and great black background. just the right amount of space around without looking too empty. in a different competition you would get very high marks from me. :)

challenge not met ... in my opinion (and i know that that's likely not the same as yours, as you obviously think your photo matches the challenge, but i have to vote according to my own interpretation, sorry. that out of the way, i did want to give you my comments on your photo anyway, because i think it is a really nice shot. i've tried things with food coloring but haven't had such nice results. i think you managed to get them just streaky and mixed enough without them all getting mixed into one. you can see all sorts of shapes and figures in it when you look at it long enough :) the black frame works well (so does the title for that matter), but i think i would make the frame a little thinner. was there any way of making the background more evenly white? it's great on the right, not quite as good on the left (this is nitpicky, btw). anyway. i like the shot :)

challenge met. i like how you balance the tree and the clouds as subjects in the photo. i would like to see more of the bottom of the tree, but i suspect the "hand of man" would show itself in some way, shape, or form. i also like the color you have chosen for this photo, it works very well. while the frame matches that color well, i personally don't like it so much. i think a black frame would've worked better here (since you can only use one frame). with multiple frames, maybe just add a thin black line and then test out this frame again. but then, that's just personal taste, anyway.

cool effect. i saw the discussions in the forums and didn't think this was going to be accepted as legal. glad to see that it is ... i'm jealous of the feature :) nice way of using it for the challenge, too. i wonder what the overall result of your shot is ... if people will accept this in-camera function. i hope they will. good luck :)

challenge met. interesting idea. i like all the different snow/ice chips and then just the frozen leaf. you got a very good color for your snow/ice, white, but not blown out. personally, i would've cropped this as a landscape around the leaf to give it more prominence in the photo. i also don't really like your frame, there's nothing black in the photo, so the black frame is a little stark in my opinion. it also seems to be wider at the top and bottom, which i find distracting (unless it's wider at the bottom and you have text in it, i do that a lot). for the challenges here, even width all around works better IMO.

challenge met. good title. i love the clouds and how they open up just around the moon. good photo. i think the frame does not work well with this shot ... it's the only white thing and makes the clouds look even more yellow than they are. but that may just be my personal taste.

challenge met. i like the contrast of the mossy rocks in the foreground against the blurry water, nicely done. while technically ok, i have to admit that this isn't the most interesting photo to me. i don't know what to suggest to change though, either. sorry.
