Nice use of ROT and placement of objects, however, all three are competing for my attention, and I'm not sure which to focus on. I know you wanted to show life at the beach, but picking one subject would've worked better in my mind. I like how the boy is about to dive into the water.

You had me fooled looking at the thumbnail, clever idea! Personally, I would prefer the shot to be a little more crisp and have more contrast in it.

Nice, simple, effective - a very good shot for b&w. I've been trying to play around with the crop to move the stone off center, but I don't like any of those variations, yours is better.

Great shot. I'm torn between two things tho and don't know which one would be better. I don't like the cut-off arm on the right. But moving more to the center of the photo would make it less appealing, too. I'm not sure what to do. Was it possible to take a landscape shot with you in the bottom right (including both elbows)? Anyway, good picture!

Everyone, thanks a lot for voting and the comments.

To answer some of the questions: I knew I was going to get comments both in favor and against the hand. While this was just a fun 'out-take' while shooting a lot of flower-ony photos, I finally decided that I actually liked this one best. Go figure!

I've posted another version for your comparison at //www.pbase.com/gr8photos/bandw.

The reason I took this in b&w is that (a) I wanted to try taking an image of something that is traditionally color in b&w but so that it still looks good. This shot in particular I like better in b&w than color. It looks more 'stylized' I guess. Feel free to check out the color version at the address above for comparison.

No, the bottom half of the shot is not OOF. The 'ghosting' of the mirror cannot really be avoided, other than by changing the camera angle and that wouldn't have worked for this shot.

So that's what it looks like on the moon, I've always been wondering! ;) Very good idea and execution. Coin is maybe a little bit too dark in the bottom left, especially compared to the rest of the coin.

I have this thing about 'untitled' pictures - I think they should get one! Apart from that, this is a wonderfully executed photo. The framing, crispness, 'colors' (or should I say shades) are great. This is definitely in my top 10 and should rate high overall. Would've also rated high for the people competition, I'm sure.

This shot is technically ok, but unfortunately, I don't find its subject very exciting. Title's cool.

Fun idea. Well framed. I think a white shirt on the guy (love the expression, glasses, and hairstyle btw) would've allowed the viewer to read the whole message better. Also, just a tad more contrast would be nice.
