Caption goes well with photo - good sense of humor. Nice, non-traditional composition, good contrast. No real complaints. Outside of this challenge, I would probably clone some of the shadow out of the photo, but since I assume this was taken in an exhibit somewhere, I'm sure they'd have frowned upon you moving the exhibit for your photo! ;-)

Shadows usually work well in b&w, however, IMO, this shot needs more contrast, it's more gray&gray right now. Good use of ROT.

Good composition, nice contrast and textures (I like the wall) in this one. The cat's eye doesn't seem to be quite focused to me, and that's important (and really hard to do, especially with animals), because that's where the eye is drawn to.

What a cute cat, and great position. I'm trying out a new "style" of critque, please let me know what you think. IMO, what would've given your picture more impact is to have more contrast, getting rid of the grass in the background (the woodgrain and the cat are great for b&w, the grass is not) and moving the cat out of the center of the photo. I've taken the liberty to make a copy of your photo, crop it and increase the contrast. What do you think?

Of course you wouldn't be able to crop it quite that same way for the challenge due to the sizing restrictions, but that's where I would try to go with this shot.

I'm assuming you wanted to just show the sillhouette in this shot, but personally, I'd prefer more detail. I do like the angle, the reflection on the table and the typical cat pose. The curtains work well for this shot, too, although I think they should've been pulled close on the right.

I'm sure this is an awesome shot in color (could you post that somewhere after the comp? I would love to see it), but IMO it does not work in b&w. Too busy, too little contrast.

Not a terribly exciting subject, but good texture in the bark of the tree and good contrast between branches and sky. Like the sunburst.

Yes, the fish looks cool. Focus and DOF is good, too, however, there is dirt on the background (aquarium glass?) and the fish melts a bit into the light-colored gravel. What color is your fish in real life, would that have been better? In any case, I know how difficult aquarium photography is (I never manage to get a single good shot, so high points anyway).

I'm sure you'll get this comment a lot (again), but the date print is REALLY distracting. Most camera's have the option to turn it off, if yours does, I would turn it off for the dpchallenge shots. You can prove the date (if need be) through the information your camera stores about the date. Now, moving beyond that, this is a nice picture, good composition. Have you tried adjusting the levels just a little more so that the wall would look more white? Maybe just lighten the whole shot.
