I'll Take Mine Wetby shairComment: I like the close crop and the colors, but I wish the shutter speed had been faster. Personally, I think that splash shots are much more interesting when they're really crisp and in focus. 6 for the bold crop and colors. |

Strawberriesby sfaliceComment: I like the idea of the background quite a bit, but I don't think it works in this case (for me, at least. :)
If you had a yellow dessert, I think it could be quite a bit of fun. But right now it just seems to fight your subject instead of help it. -6- |

Oby TiberiusComment: I like this. I like the shallow depth of field. The two cherries in the back are gorgeously oof. For some reason the stem on the front one being out of focus bugs me. I wish it was turned a little so the whole stem was in focus (simply because the stems are wonderful on a cherry, and very photogenic.)
Also, have you tried flipping it horizontally? Sometime it's much more comfortable for the eye to start of in focus and move towards the oof (since we read from left to right.) -7- |

Home made chocolate dough delightby hajekaComment: Not sure what to do with this one... but a couple of things come to mind:
First, It would have been nice to cut down the highlights. Looks like maybe a window highlight on one side but a brighter spot on the other? Maybe finding a way of making the light source on the right not so harsh?
Also, for how much I love raspberries (and I really love raspberries!!) the hairs on the raspberries make it a little less appealing. (and I'm surprised by that. strange, but true.)
I like the dof. I'm curious what it would have looked like from a slightly lower pov.

jelly Dessertsby saraclicksComment: I usually love negative space, but I don't think it helps this image, simply because of the size restrictions on DPC. I would have much rather seen this cropped portrait so the glass of jello could be bigger and I could explore it more. It looks like there's some wonderful colors and blends and bubbles to be discovered, that I'm not seeing because the subject is small. (But I have lousy eyes, so maybe that's just my problem, not others.)
Small thing: the lighting at the bottom of the glass seems overly bright for the low key nature of the shot. I would have liked to see it taken down to just a nice soft glow. -7- as is. I think it could have been an 8, possibly 9 shot. |

Almost Sinfully Good. by LydiaComment: I like the reflection of the cake on the handle of the fork. It would be fun to play with that a bit. I wonder what it would have looked like with the fork reversed and that reflection on the tines?
Nicely done. -8- |

Caramello by BudyaComment: I like it -- and I like the idea. The bottom half seems a little heavy. Did you try cropping up from the bottom a bit more? Also the white reflection on the bottom and the glass ruins the lines a bit. -7- |
