The mystery word is ELEMENTS

[Jul. 22nd, 2012 01:50:08 PM]

This was all done with light painting. I did it outside where id have no reflective light from walls or anything like that. I used a bowl for the fire and water parts. Someone is pouring water into the bowl as I exposed it light. With the fire, I poured vodka in the bowl and lit it on fire before the exposure started.
As far as post processing, I used levels to completely blackout the bacground and darken her a little more to put emphasis on the lighting.

[Jul. 22nd, 2012 01:52:03 PM]

Oh serperatly colored each photo. I used a white flashlight for all of these.

The original is only half a person and I used it twice. Its the exact same frame with nothing moved so it isnt breaking any rules.

This was by far the best image in the challenge - really surprised it only got a yellow. In any case, congrats :)

These are actually the kinds of techniques and shots that will hide the lower quality of more basic equipment like cameras and lenses. Light painting on my t1i will be just as good as most other high end professional bodys.

Really cool colours, is this done with lighting or in post-processing? Can't wait to hear how you did it!

As for the word guess, Elements! Though... shouldn't there be wind as well? Or am I crazy? ... ok, I know I'm crazy, don't rub it in.

I love the concept and the composition. Does the female represent an element like mother nature? The bra or black item covering the breasts is bothersome. Looks like that portion of the body was cut out . I would have had the woman completely bare and have the breasts hidden in the shadow. Have you tried using a muscular male emphasizing the muscular build (strength)? The human element is a great addition to this triptych Earth elements image. A on your creativity. If there was a 5 element challenge add to this Air and Love.
