I really wish you hadn't done the toning on this one. I think it takes away from a spectacular impact. With everything being so much the same other than the people, just doing a B&W or sepia, of something that made everything feel like the same scene, would have given much more of an "oh!" when I got to the people. I think this could have rated around an 8-9, but it ends up as a 6 as is. Just thought I'd muse out loud... It is a great find -- especially the line going straight across the faces.

(btw, this photo just made me create a whole new "dpc bugs the crap out of me" thread. All because of the lines going through the faces. I found myself irritated at the line. finding it to be lousy placement, finding it to be a problem in the photograph, and then finding it to be fascinating. Realizing how unimportant faces are. I always knew this. I love the photos from behind, photos where you're not seeing the faces. But I never realized just how good it was to obscure a face through unconventional means. The photo is still a 6 because of the toning. But I wanted you to realize just how much I'm enjoying the discoveries here. :)

Ignore all of this if you'd like. Just thinking out loud. :)

I'm curious if you're thinking the guy on the right is the distraction. I'm finding the halloween critters even more so. :) -7- either way.

Ok, I'm really loving this, but I so much want it to be darker/moodier. It's wonderful, but seems incredibly bright... 7 as is, but I think it could have gone up to a 9. It's so close...

Ok -- I was going back and forth on whether I'd consider anything a distracting element. It seems to all fit to well to really be a distracting element. (doesn't matter for the score -- I see why it might be considered one, so that's close enough. But what was distracting was the composition just didn't seem right. It's a great find, and a great bird, but the centering of the photo just seemed wrong to me. It's like taking something hidden and shouting to the world that "here it is"! It's such a nice little scene, that I want it to be just a little more of a mystery/discovery. So I'd get rid of the vignette, and move her off center someplace so people can have the joy of the discovery. -6- as is. (just musing out loud on the comment. :)
