Kate by the Fountainby GeneralEComment: Originally posted by dunamis: Good job. Did it bother Kate that you produced a mirror image? |
I don't think she ever said anything about that ... I don't know if she even remembers about it -- this picture must be over ten years old.
Here's a handy link to the original -- scan of a B&W print:

What Color Is YOUR Shadow?by GeneralEComment: Thanks all -- I wasn't overwhelmed with cooperation from the kids -- I think the whole set-up and shoot took less than four minutes out of their recess period! I was aided in getting this shot by being able to use the tilt/swivel LCD on the Canon to hold the camera high overhead and shoot almost straight down, and get the hands closer to the shadows -- probably the number one comment on the original, along with the flowerpot.

Left Behindby NobodyComment: Poor bear ... maybe Woody and Buzz Lightyear will be along soon to help him find his way home. |

She LEFT by edmengComment: Good time to use this technique; nice job with the lighting and angles. For some reason, I think your "message" might come across better if the dress were some color other than a passionate red, maybe mourning purple or some othe "cold" color. |

Not Superstitious by rioloboComment: Good idea thematically, and a clever contrast between the multicolored umbrella and "monochrome" surroundings; good job with the lighting. |

Dimensional Spaceby seebrownComment: This is a lovely piece of abstract art which could be rendered in almost any medium, photographically probably being the hardest : ) |

Lonely Cornerby Penny LaneComment: Starkness of th eexposure suits the mood of the photo well. Did you consider blurring the stuff showing through the opening? There's a lot of detail there, and it fights for attention with your subject. |

Ray of Hope?by GeneralEComment: Originally posted by CBalck: Oh this just doesn't work for me, the negative image loses much of the lovely architectural details. |
Actually, the whole purpose of the post-processing was to allow the details to be seen at all, as this link to a resized-only original help show may show.
I wanted the sunburst through the cupola, and this was the position and angle where that occurs -- earlier in the day, you'd have to stand in the middle of a busy four-lane street ... in front of the police station and jail ...
I tried some horizontal ones, but they weren't as good.
Mostly I was impressed with myself for getting the sunburst and getting it that straight and symmetrical with a handheld shot.
Here's a link to a screenshot showing the single RGB Curve I ended up using (you can see I tried others). The numbers in the Info Window are being sampled from the center-underside of the cupola.
