(1) COMPOSITION (CONTENT) Very powerful composition. You have put together all of the emements of a very strong composition: leading lines, strong diagonals, rule of thirds, bright vibrant colors... I could go on and on.
(2) BACKGROUND I love the background that you have used, the wonderful texture of the top side of the shell is a perfect contrast to the smoothness of the bottom part of the shell.
(3) CAMERA WORK ,TECHNICAL Exposure seems a right on to me. The lighting is so perfect here, I can not begin to tell you how to improve this.
(4) DIGITAL PROCESSING ,TECHNICAL Good processing. The colors are wonderful, they seem to just "pop". I sm very glad you did not put a border on this, that would have distracted from the overall compositiion.
(5)MEETING THE CHALLENGE This photo does a very good job of meeting the challenge. I love the humor that you injected into the subject.
(6) MY OPINION ON THE PHOTO A very beautiful photo. I would love to see this hanging in a childs room, both the subject and the bright clean colors would make it perfect. | Photographer found comment helpful. |

(1) COMPOSITION (CONTENT) Well composed. The solid looking candle and candle holder contrast well with the filmy smoke.
(2) BACKGROUND I love the background that you have used, it does not distract from the subject of the photograph at all. The white of the candle nearly glows against the darkness behind it and the crystal of the candle holder is very crisp here.
(3) CAMERA WORK ,TECHNICAL The use of negative space is well done. The candle moved to the left like this gives the smoke room to move through the frame. The sharp focus and clarity are a great play against the wispyness of the smoke.
(4) DIGITAL PROCESSING ,TECHNICAL Good processing. I wonder how this would have looked in Black and White. Good choice of a border, does not distract from the photo at all.
(5)MEETING THE CHALLENGE This photo does a very good job of meeting the challenge. Unfortunately this song was overused, and that probably is what brought you in at a lower score than you deserved.
(6) MY OPINION ON THE PHOTO A very interesting photo. It tells a story, a very emotional one...especially if you are familiar with the words of this song. | Photographer found comment helpful. |

(1) COMPOSITION (CONTENT) Well composed. You have used the rule of thirds and leading line very effectively here. This is a very strong composition and very well balanced.
(2) BACKGROUND I love the background that you have used, the slightly out of focus apples add a true three dimentional feeling to this photograph. I also think that the white table makes the apple in the foreground appear very crisp and fresh.
(3) CAMERA WORK ,TECHNICAL Exposure seems right on target. The DOF is perfect in my opinion. I think others might be disturbed by the apples in the background, but to me, they are perfect. I love the little details such as the water drops and how the curve of the apple seems to be "hugging" the diamond.
(4) DIGITAL PROCESSING ,TECHNICAL Good processing. There is a good contrast between the red and the white which helps the apple really stand out.
(5)MEETING THE CHALLENGE This photo does a very good job of meeting the challenge. Its the last place I would expect to see a diamond.
(6) MY OPINION ON THE PHOTO A very interesting photo. I would love to see this blown up huge (poster size) and hanging in a jewelry store. Very well done. | Photographer found comment helpful. |

(1) COMPOSITION (CONTENT) The horizon seems to cut this photograph in half lengthwise. A better placement would have been along a line 1/3 of the way up from the bottom. This would have followed the rules of thirds, and given you a bit more of that beautiful sky.
(2) BACKGROUND I love the background here. The colors in this sky are phenomenal. You can not go wrong with a gorgeous sunset.
(3) CAMERA WORK ,TECHNICAL Exposure seems a little dark on the foreground to me. I am wondering if you use the on-camera flash to add some fill light on the foreground, if that would have improved this photo a bit. If you had added time to the exposure, you would have burned out the colors in the sky. I realize that a sunset is fleeting and you do not have time to try alot of different things, so this is the only suggestion I can make.
(4) DIGITAL PROCESSING ,TECHNICAL Good processing. I think I miught have cropped a bit tighter to remove some of the foreground. I realize that the wildflowers in the foreground were a big part of this photograph, but considering how they disappeared, I think the photo would be stronger without them.
(5)MEETING THE CHALLENGE This photo does a very good job of meeting the challenge.
(6) MY OPINION ON THE PHOTO A very interesting photo. I love the colors of the sky. I think if you had used some fill flash on the flowers this would have scored much higher. Good luck, and keep shooting :-) |

(1) COMPOSITION (CONTENT) Well composed. The strong use of repeating shapes, along with magnificent colors works very well in this composition. The swooping circles seem to carry the viewer into the photograph. I feel almost as if I was on a roller coaster when viewing this.
(2) BACKGROUND The dark background is completely necessary for this to work as well as it did. I love the fainter cirles in the background, repeating the main foreground circles. I think it is this repeating pattern that really make this photograph.
(3) CAMERA WORK ,TECHNICAL I am not sure how you did this, and I am not sure what it is, but it works very well as a colorful abstract. I have a feeling that you might have done a little better in the scoring if your subject had been more identifable, as people on DPC do not score abstracts well over all. This is an unfortunate truth, as those of us who like abstracts probably scored this very high.
(4) DIGITAL PROCESSING ,TECHNICAL Good processing. Your colors really "pop". I love the contrast between the dark background and the bright, vivid colors of the foreground.
(5)MEETING THE CHALLENGE This photo does a very good job of meeting the challenge. You picked a very recognisable song too.
(6) MY OPINION ON THE PHOTO A very beautiful photo. This is one that I would be proud to hang in my home. Great job. You should be proud of this one. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
