| 07/24/2002 12:23:00 PM | Two American Icons in Oneby daverx7Comment: I like this photo, in general. The face in the mirror, is that u? If so, kinda cool, if not, lump in with the next comment. The two extra faces in the window not good. If they were activily engaged with the car, that would be another thing. Next, the texture, everything has texture, but this is a bit of an odd mix. The paint is smooooth, right? The flag is painted is if it were fluttering. (Not really certain were I am going with this, bear with me, just odd) Isn't that more than technically somebody else's work? (canvas=car) And then there are the power lines...... 5 Swash |
| 07/22/2002 07:47:00 PM | Orange Aluminiumby biohazardixComment: I don't know how you did this, but I do like it! I am still trying to figure out the red streaks, wierd, but powerful image. After the challenge, I would like to look at your additional information to see the "how" part of this shot. Well Done. 9 Swash |
| 07/25/2002 04:45:00 PM | Surface of the Sunby djshmuckComment: This is an O.K. Macro shot. My issues are: it's a bit dark and the depth of field isn't as wide as I would like to see it. The lower and upper 1/4 of this shot are out of focus. I know the shot would have been a little lower interest, but straight on would have avoided some of this. 6 Swash |
| 07/24/2002 12:47:00 PM | Golden Maple Leafby evmariedogsComment: The picture is pretty good, maybe a little light on the focus, but your angle of attack and a macro shot combined often have a limited focal range. Probably not the only one....... but THAT is not a maple leaf. Alder or Popular, maybe, look up the Canadian Flag, it's a great example. A flatter angle of attack would have been easier to obtain a good focus of this subject, but less interesting, choose your poison. I started with a 6, I'm going to stick with it, even though I almost talked myself down another notch or two. 6 Swash (Oh, yeah, the flash on the tip of the leaf, not so good, score unchanged.) |

| 07/26/2002 07:27:00 PM | DOLEby RedRuthannComment: Best of the pineappel shots! Your shot is the clearest, best lit shot of that genre. (Sorry to "group" you, it just caught me off guard that this subject would be so popular) On it's own merits, this is a great shot, with lots of texture on display, very wide focus and great color. 9 Swash |
| 07/26/2002 01:27:00 PM | soft textureby jimsappComment: Soft focus. It could be your subject, but no, I blew it up, focus appears to be behind your subject. Nice example of texture. 6 Swash |
| 07/26/2002 07:50:00 PM | Flourishby CheetahComment: Neat reverse color effects! Everything has texture, even pine tress (or cones), but in jumbling the colors, I feel the texture is harder to relate to (way square on my part). Cropping parts of your subject (two cones got tipped!) is not good. I am going to stay with my 7 score, as I like the idea so much! Swash |
| 07/25/2002 03:36:00 PM | Trees shadowed like smokeby steelburComment: First, is this really the photo for that title? I really don't get it, my dumb! You have plenty of texture in the cement walls, so that's O.K. The pole and wires have to go (I hope you are not too attached!) Finally, estitics, would I hang this photo on my wall? Would you? 5 Swash |
| 07/26/2002 12:54:00 PM | Refractory girlby manoloComment: The shot is pretty well taken, but I just noticed the statue has "hair". The hair is on the dark side (hard to see dark). Focal range is amazing (except maybe the thumb). Personal conflict: Site rules talk about "other's art", but I like taking photos of statues, I've rewritten this comment ten times and still sounds like whining about an issue I am conflicted on. 6 Swash |
