Fantastically well executed. Very faithful to the original too which I imagine most voters will prefer to reinterpretations.

Great image - inspired by the original rather than a copy. The coloration has a Brin feel about it.

Much more punch than the original but still very faithful too. One of my 10s.

Huge amount of effort here, a great concept too. I really like Ll the various creatures and I like how it all makes sense in terms of story (perfect title). Given the efforts you have gone to, the flat lighting and lowish contrast is a bit of a niggle - I can think a slight vignette, a bit of diffusion in the highlights and a tad more contrast would have have made the whole scene look a little more real. I am sure you wanted to ensure that we could see all of your various creatures but I think sacrificing some clarity, especially towards the edges for the sake of making the whole scene seem more real might have been a better choice.

Still a 10 from me though, and of the three 10s I gave, I think this - for flat out effort, deserves the blue.

Freaky subject matter but great imagination demonstrated here. I really like the look you have created for the image, the coloration and distressed effect is highly effective. I think the eye doesn't convince as much as it might - I think the horizontal perspective might be slightly off... Or, it could just be my brain refusing to accept that it looks right, after all we are more sensitive to visualization of the human face than anything else.

I gave it a 10 though - it stands out in this challenge. The coloration and feel of the image suggests clive_patric_nolan to me....

I hope you don't get scored down because people are a little precious about babies, this is just a photo done for a competition after all.

So well done. An expert edit indeed. Although it's not my favourite of the challenge, it got one of the three 10s I gave out.

Great to see your work in the top 10 Clive.

I looked at you book too - very holistic feel you've captured with that.

Congrats on both.

I like the way you have used the tilt and the low perspective to add additional interest to the scene. Personallly, I find foliage backgrounds to be a bit messy - because of the high inherent contrast in the highlights and shadows of the leaves. sometimes I'll edit in a way that diffuses foliage like this image:

The box itself is certainly grungy but whether it comes over as weathered will be a matter of debate. Putting that to one side, I 'lll consider whether the image is technically good and whether it is beautiful / interesting. Technically this is OK, but on an interest level there isn't much here (beyond the POV) that communicates your choices as a photographer; for example, the DOF has a point and shoot feel about it - like you haven't taken control of the aperture - as if you avoided the choice. I could say the same about the exposure - it is a little vanilla and there would be more drama in over or under exposure than there is here.

Perhaps you could have gone monochrome, raised the black point to deepen the shadows and added a vignette. These are just possible choices but I think they would maximised the interest in the image and help to keep your main subject from competing with the background.
