This is beautifully done - difficult to get this level of crispness but to avoid ugly crunchy foliage.

I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.

Positives: There are lots of elements I like about this image - but most of all I like the POV. The curvature of the glass tricks the eye into think there is some distortion of reality here. The reflected sky binds the image together very effectively.

Critical stuff: Not much - the lower part of the street light could've shown a little bit of texture.

Overall: A very nice architectural shot.

Positives: I like unusual portraits and this falls squarely into that camp. The hemi-face coupled with the deep perspective offered by the industrial background works really well. I think your choice of aperture offers a DOF that works really well. The aspect ratio / crop is just perfect for this

Critical stuff: There are some minor things that bother me. The blue fringing in the background, the blown highlights top right, the slightly jaundiced appearance of the skin tone - but all of these are only slightly sub-optimal.

Overall. Very nice work

Positives: I feel ambushed by this image - but in a good way! Spectacular processing elevates this image above mainstream floral work; the coloration, the texture and particularly the gradation of tones distinguish this image.

Critical stuff: Nothing at all.

Overall: tremendous stuff - I'd love to know your processing steps.

Positives: I like what you've tried to do here - using the motion blur to emphasise the linearity of the tree trunks. The dappled lighting serves to add some depth to the image too.

Critical stuff: As sound as your vision is, I don't think you've pulled it off. The large mass of ground that makes up the lower half of the image isn't (in my view) particularly suited to that sort of effect and the trees themselves are not vertical enough for the technique to work.

Overall: I like this sort of image but this one doesn't do it for me I'm afraid.

Positives: Great use of blur (Lensbaby?) - I really like the grain and coloration too; the choices you have made make the viewer become more aware and thus to consider more the lighting and texture of your subject.

Critical stuff: Not much at all.

Overall: Your editing and shooting choices have brought much interest to an otherwise low interest scene.

Positives: Wonderfully made. I know the back story to this image which makes it all the more poignant, but even when putting that to one side, this was always likely to hit my sweet spot. The combination of elements in this image - the doll head, the inserted hands and the vertical hair tuft all make for a most intriguing image and the use of a Lensbaby complements the composition perfectly.

Critical stuff: Not much, but a few personal taste things - I do think a tad more space at the bottom may have worked a little better - the lack of edge burning on that side (paradoxically) emphasises the asymmetry. I also think the image could have stood slightly more contrast.

Overall: A wonderfully creative piece.

A lot of potential here but for me, the overdone eyes kills it.

Positives: I really like this - the colour palette stop me in my tracks - one of those picture that reminds us to lift our head and look around more often. The swathes of black negative space hurt the image not at all and serve to further emphasise the mood of the room.

Critical stuff: A scene like this only has a finite amount of interest in it and even when captured very nicely, the upper limit of interest is less than in images with a stronger story to tell.

Overall: I do like it. Nicely made.
