Positives:There is just something about this image that resonates with my brain. The rotational scratches and the 'spattery' marks that allude to centripetal forces creates a sense of dynamism. This sense should be smothered by the grey coloration but the light of the reflective metallic surface breathe life into the image. I also like how the grey has so much variance.

Critical stuff: More of an observation but you already know this image is unlikely to be accessible to all.

Overall: I think this is a confident image from someone who knows their way. Nicely done.

Positives: Horse shots don't normally do it for me but this one is tremendous; such dynamism. The coloration is really interesting too; I like how this is obviously quite processed but nonetheless feels honest and raw.

Critical stuff: Perhaps slightly more head space than there needs to be.

Overall: A really well constructed image.

Positives: Great exposure / light here - the contrast of the figure against the dark water is wonderful. I also like that despite the water being dark, it is still showing the shadow of the bridge. I like the bridge itself too - especially the rivets in the top left corner.

Critical stuff: Nothing much at all.

Overall: Great image.

Positives: I've seen this image or an adjacent image before. I believe I liked it then and I certainly like it now. I like how we see her in context, the light on her face emphasises her but you include enough elsewhere in the frame to situate her in the world. We want to explore the surrounds, find out what is around the corner. Normally I'd want the background less prominent when there is a primary subject like this but here you've made absolutely the right choice.

Critical stuff: I think I'd have taken the highlights on her face down a little.

Overall: A very rich photograph. Lovely.

Positives: What a stunning composition; I love the zig-zag my eye does as it makes its way up the steps. The light too, the way it edges your model/main figure and the others on the steps. I also get the most subtle impression that the girl is not fully desaturated - is that my imagination?

Critical stuff: I can't see a way around it but the top right corner is a little dull - I wonder if a brighter or darker tone might work better.

Overall: A very well constructed image.

Positives: Spectacular DOF / selective focus and so wonderfully toned and exposed too. The detail on the lashes is just amazing, especially against the overall smoothness of the rest of the image. The composition too - excellent and effective: bold to place the area of interest up there and trust in the negative space.

Critical stuff: Nothing really.

Overall: An excellent image that I like a lot.

Positives: What an unusual image - I like that. I like the suggestion that she is lost in her imagination or indeed that this is her imagination. I like the dark, slightly unreal looking sand. I also like the ambiguity in relation to the time of day.

Critical stuff: Although I like the coloration, I can't shake the feeling it is just slightly too dark.

Overall: A nice, imaginative image.

Positives: What wonderful tones and shadows to die for - especially from the fire escape. The detail on the brickwork is perfectly maintained and I'm really impressed by your highlight handling - right up to the limit with none blown. I really like that poster bottom right too.

Critical stuff: I suppose I wish the fellow was walking towards us, but there isn't a fat lot you can do about that.

Overall: A lovely find amid all of the straight-up (albeit well done) eye candy. I include my own image in the vanilla category.
