I'm entering this one not because it's my best of 2010 (anyway, what do we mean by "best"??) but because I really like it. It was taken on a lovely Sunday evening in early June in NYC on the last day of our DPC GTG.

The gentleman in the image, is 21.gif Nixter. I see Nick as the master of the shadow so it seemed only right and fitting to use this image for Best of. I know a few people (especially those who were with me!) will recognise this, but so be it. I do not anticipate a high score. I don't much care about the score though.

oh Sarah! This brings back so many great memories from that awesome weekend. Meeting up with everyone in NY was definitely a highlight of my trip.
New York was fantastic, but seeing it with a bunch of great friends made it even better!!! Thank you!! : )

Ah yes... I remembered this. Wonderful light and a fabulous tribute to both Nixter and to the event.

It's hard not to like these shadows. Kind of wish your subject weren't walking away.

I'm too close to this photo to vote on it, but it does look outstanding.

Pros: Love the desaturated affect
Cons: Crop thighter, maybe just walker, sidewalk, lower steps?

I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.

Positives: What wonderful tones and shadows to die for - especially from the fire escape. The detail on the brickwork is perfectly maintained and I'm really impressed by your highlight handling - right up to the limit with none blown. I really like that poster bottom right too.

Critical stuff: I suppose I wish the fellow was walking towards us, but there isn't a fat lot you can do about that.

Overall: A lovely find amid all of the straight-up (albeit well done) eye candy. I include my own image in the vanilla category.
