The Things We Doby DustDevilComment: From the Critique Club!
Heesh, the first shot I've done a critique on in some time and I get this one. Makin' my stomach all queesy! (I don't do blood very well...)
Compositionally, this shot is one where the centering of the subject seems to work fairly well. Focus is spot on and everything that needs to be in focus is. Your lighting is a bit harsh and not very imaginative. Technically an reasonably well done shot.
So the question is why didn't this do so well in the voting process. If I had to guess, I'd say a large portion of it may be your choice of subject. It is not 'eye candy' and doesn't have a lot of staying power IMHO. Nice job with the fake blood. You fooled me...

Miss Noseyby roadrunnerComment: Why do I have a feeling this will do good in this challenge? You even broke the no nostrils rule, but I still have a feeling...

Airplaneby AnnaPComment: Wondered how long it would take to see one of these! ;-) Kinda grainy. I'm a fan of grain and noise if it is done well, but this one doesn't seem to have a reason for it.

Grazingby GolferDDSComment: This is one of the greatest almost perfect shots that I've seen in some time. The detail is incredible. The framing and composition are spot on. The only problem is that it is very low in contrast for a b/w image. Work the zones more and you have the potential for one of the greatest b/w shots that I've seen here in some time, my own included! Would love to see the original to see if there is enough contrast in it to make this a great b/w shot.

Flower Powerby AlbireoComment: This is so sharp it hurts my eyes. I think this could actually be a candidate for a soft focus effect. It is definately the best shot I've seen of a dandeline that is still yellow...

Mugby loveComment: Very nice concept! Too bad that you appear to be blown out on the inside of the cup and just in front of it. Also, the handle IMHO should be on the other side of the image (in the white) as it tends to dissapear into the background. Most original I've seen so far though.

Simplicityby Dax-Comment: Great shot. Shrink the overbearing white border that clashes with the image and this is an excellent shot.
