Gordon had had a rough life, and now he was at the edge of ending it all. It would be simple. One step, and it would all be over. Gordon looked down into the churning morass, steeled himself, and took the plunge.

Moments later he cursed himself once again, as he soared over the stream. Perhaps it wasn't the best suicide method for a bird.

Billy was finally free. FREE!!

As he stood there for a moment, contemplating where he would go, he heard a sound behind him. He turned, and there, flapping in the wind, was an old cloth caught on the fence of his old pen.

With a sigh and pout, Billy walked back into his pen to munch on the piece of fabric. Freedom could wait.

When the probe came down, it held the beach goers riveted. As it tried to communicate in the millions of interstellar languages it knew, it suddenly found itself attacked. Confused, but angered, it sent off a distress call to the home-world as it found itself constantly smacked back and forth by these evil creatures!

Thus, was a major interstellar war started because of an unfortunate similarity between an alien probe, and the object of a popular earth game.

She could kill men with her shoulder blades, they said, but when she finally did, she was driven into despair and madness.

Wilbur and WhiteSpot (don't bother him, he's very sensitive", wandered the fence line yet again. These darkening skies at noon worried them, as it seemed to be drying up all the available grazing lands, turning soil into dust, and food into inedible straw and sticks.

All they knew was that if situations didn't change, they would one day starve to death. So they set out on an adventure to find the cause, with only one starting clue to guide them, "Seek out he with the ND"

What this ND was, or why it was important, they would find out. Eventually.

Satan has manifested before, but never quite like this. This time, he chose a method a little less dramatic than before, a departure for him. He came in the body of a youthful man, with no hints of his usual reds, or horns, or transparantly evil looks.

It was perfect this time, perfect. Nobody would suspect a thing. Nobody would... suddenly he was accosted by multiple young college students bandishing a white robe, a herder's crook, and a snap-on-halo.

Satan examined the clothing and began to feel fear and anxiety for the first time. In order to complete his disguise, he chose to forgo a good deal of his powers as well, and was almost helpless as the wardrope students dressed him in his attire, and shoved him onto the Stage.

Satan looked about in absolute horror. As an oversite of his brutally inner searching for the perfect disguise, he quite blindly missed what that disguise would be. Tears of anger, shock, and revulsion built in the corner of his eyes. He was going to play Jesus. In a STAGE PRODUCTION of all things!!

Just before his first line was to be uttered, he lifted his gaze into the air and muttered his second most famous words, "Touche, you Bastard, Touche".

The early morning papers sold hundreds more copies than usual, due to a brilliant review written about a brilliant actor that played Jesus with more fervor, faith, and energy than the character had ever been played before.

It seemed that the blast took out many areas of earth that day, and in Bambi's final moments, he could only wish that he'd been kinder to Thumper. Much kinder. He didn't, after all, have to break those damn legs a hundre...

... He never completed the thought, as the shock wave took him down.

They all gathered round and look down. Of coure, the parents were beaming at their pride a joy, as he sprouted from the ground. The Grandparents passed out Pine Nut Cigars, and the cousins all scrambled to see a bit of the baby tree.

However, not all was warm at the birth of General Sherman so long ago. No, there were jealous aunts and uncles that felt shame at such an abnormally large sapling. Rumors flew, and feelings were hurt, and the family was never the same. Thousands of years later, General Sherman reflected on those silly family misunderstandings and gathered his own together.

"My fellow trees, he said. Some of us may be very large (some laughs at that), some may be very small, but we are all trees, and we all do hard and thankless work, no matter our size, and if we stick together as a family, nothing can take us down."

A cheer rose up at that moment among the trees. Which was unfortunate, as it drowned out the starting engines of the highway crew.

As the voyeageur's canoe silently glided toward the distant shore, the fog settled in. It was already damp and cold, and the fog only increased the chill and discomfort. The men of the boat wrapped deeper into the skin outfits they had been made by the native tribe on the last shore, some days behind them, and the canoe continued to drift slowly.

One man raised his fist in a gesture of silence. The paddling was quickly quieted, and the boat drifted to an almost stop, its only movement by the near nonexistent current of the water. What had the captain heard? Moments passed, and not a crewman dared to breath above a mostly silent whisper.

Then, with a whooping cry, two war canoes shot out of the mist right toward them. Many men begain to panic but the captain held up a fist to quiet them. "No!", he hissed, "do not panic, and do not turn us around. Men, begin paddling backwards, as fast as you are able, but make it look as casual and natural as possible.. We could still escape this yet."

The enemy boats were about 300 yards off, and gaining at first. Soon however, they stopped gaining, even though the boats of the white man were still seemingly coming at them. The Chief frowned, and peered at the boats for some time. What devilry is this. His men were paddling as hard as ever.

Then, he saw it. He finally recognized the odd pattern of paddling on the enemy boats, and screamed to double the efforts! However, it was probably too late. The Voyageurs had paddled far too long, far too well, and were most likely out of range now, and had, the Chief noticed, abandoned their trick and were turning quickly into an all out sprint for land.

With one finally war yell, the chief launched an arrow towards the canoes, and managed to nail the tail end of one. It served as a warning, do not return to our lands, or pay the consequences.

The Voyageurs returned heroes, and with their help a new way was forged indeed, yet battles raged everywhere, and not all stories end on a positive note.
